Was there ever a talking dog in the newspaper series? My friend says I'm insane, am I? Or am I thinking of another person with a similar art style.

As far as I know there has never been a talking dog. Maybe you are thinking of Calvin And Hobbes.

Uh, I don't remember any animals, talking or otherwise, in the Boondocks.

And Calvin & Hobbes had a talking tiger.
