Practice for the On-line Test

I had planned to write another 50-question practice version of next week's on-line test, but a family emergency will keep me off board until after the tests are over. Sorry.

Here are links to past practice tests and answers. Good luck to all.

The Real Thing:

Fall, 2008 College Test
2008, Test #3
2008, Test #2

My stuff:

2005 Test, and answers
2006 Test, and answers
2007 Test, and answers
2008 Test, and answers

Other boardies efforts:

JTrivial's test and answers

Myron Meyer's test
Scott Green
Collaborative effort

(Dead links from AOL, apparently as of October 30, 2008. Have we lost the Ronnie Archive?)

See you next week.

-DoT

All the relevant info is now in the J-Archive, but yes, the Ronnie Archive is dead (thanks, AOL ).

Thanks for consolidating these. Those are hard! I averaged mid-30's so I guess I'm on the cusp. I'll just have to hope for the best on Tues.

DoT, thanks again for your invaluable contribution to the board and to boardies.

Some of these I recognize, some are new, and all are excellent study aids.

You're a prince, sir.

Yes, thanks DoT!

Does anyone have a good resource that they use to study potent potables, besides, you know, taste tests? A helpful web site that lays out drinks and ingredients in a list-type format? Breaking into Ken Jennings' house and stealing the flash cards he made?

Make your own flashcards - a search of the archive will give you a list, and you compile your own ingredients. But to remember them, you have to drink them. Slowly, or you'll forget them again.

The site here has a lot of drinks I've seen used on J! and others unknown to me.

I'm sorry this is so vague.
Someone on here has like a Bee themed trivia site linked in their signature that has like 60 drinks with their names and ingredients.

I made a quiz on Cocktails some time ago here. I hope you will find it useful.

Thanks Kneesoxrock, that was me!

Wow, I was doing some random Googling, and stumbled upon your site. I was going to come here and post the link. Yes, that quiz was just what I was seeking.

I didn't think of this before posting here originally, but Secrets of the Jeopardy! Champions has good information as well.

Grabbing a bartender's guide would be a good idea, too, they're usually pocket-sized. When I worked in a restaurant, I tended bar and would read it when it was slow.

How else would I have ever learned that a Harvey Wallbanger has vodka, orange juice and Galliano in it?

I never actually had to make one...Lots of Manhattans, Martinis and variations thereof, mostly.

Is it conventional wisdom that the Central/Mountain test is easier than the other two? I know the 2007 one was for me. And IIRC, the 2008 one seemed easier as well.

IIRC, there was one year (last year?) when the consensus was was that the Central test was definitely easier. I don't think anyone made any generalizations on that basis.

To me (YMMV), the Central test has been significantly easier than the Eastern test the past 3 years. Of course, this year, it'll be just the opposite.
