Can a soap make it if..
Okay there some rumors floating around that One Life To Live wont be on much longer because its on the East coast by itself.. I guess what i'm asking can a soap make it being the only soap on one coast? while the others are in LA.. I love OLTL with all my heart its the best soap out there.. I was wondering if a soap could make it without needing another back up soap on the same coast as them?
I wanna believe OLTL can make it and I want them to prove everyone wrong since they are not based in LA.. I don't think ever soap should be based in LA JMO!

I read the rumor bout OLTL,,if its cancelled I will be sad.The writing for that show,is heads and tails above the writing on DOOL..I think its just due to the low ratings..maybe they need to change the time slot.SHocker of shocks..I was flipping,Mon,and Y&R has been moved to 3 pm here.A better time I think.I would really hate it too go.I think DH about killed it,when she was writing there, and they have so many great actors and actresses..it would be shame

Well ATWT is still in NYC, well Brooklyn. However, its most likely their contract will not get renewed next spring either.

DH ruined OLTL when she was writing OLTL.. I don't know if you was watching when DH was writing for OLTL but she butcher OLTL totally! I think it just a lame excuse because OLTL will be the only soap on the East Coast.. not every soap should be in LA???

None of the genre can make it much longer, imo, for a couple of reasons.
Network greed is a huge factor. Quality has long since been let go. Look at prime time. Reality shows or formula shows. Bad writers are a dime a dozen. GOOD writers who believe in character driven stories are rarely hired...... production types valued by networks are schock, silliness and tabloid mentality. Deranged characters like we see on all the soaps are really popular. One, they can be written off easily. Also, it takes little or no talent to do this same old, same old, crazy woman/man cannot take rejection. Bad, dull actors are apparently loved by certain producers because they have no attachment or investment in their characters or in history. And the audience has changed. I know I am out of sync with what many consider good. I find repetitive silly stories of women kidnapping men to be eye rolling embarrassments. I find over the top characters hard to take for more than short stints. I do not relish thugs and felons as the lead characters. I think the tabloid mentality of this genre and many other shows has made it clear. Character driven stories are gone forever. ![]()

OLTL is a better soap than Days. I would hate to see it go.

What is missing on DOOL is just this line. We have interaction without heart connecting the stories together. Was I too root or hate Nicole according to the show? I don't know the angle that the writers wanted. The line was blurred. I cannot stand Sami and I prefer Nicole, but was that how I was supposed to feel? I don't know if we need to be in the head of every character, but I really do want to be in the head of a few. I might not have liked Reilly's style of storytelling, but he could when he wanted deliver on the heart. I don't know of any writer who has given us clear lines since him.
