Anybody know anything more about the score other than the fact that Danny Elfman is supposed to be composing it? Any info IF and WHEN it becomes available would be great, or just chat if you've heard any samples... ;)

I don't really know, but I'm dying to find out. Danny Elfman is sweet.

In another forum, I brought up the point that the score should combine the traditional Danny Elfman 'classical' feel (complete with choir, et al) with modern, upbeat hip-hoppish synth and drum beats... hard to picture? Check out composer John Ottman's unused score for the film 'Cruel Intentions' (it was just released on the Varese Sarabande CD label due to popular demand)... not EXACTLY like that, but you can appreciate how he's combining two very different styles of music to create a 'modern classical' score: something that is very deep and layered, yet at the same time very hip and fresh and stylized... here's hoping they read this, check out Ottman's work on 'Cruel', and we're set!
~~any thoughts, fellow weBHeads?

I hope that Danny can really pull off something special with this movie soundtrack. I understand it is in bad taste to say "I hope the soundtrack sounds like this, or that", so I hope Danny really gets to experiment on this film. That is, if the studio and Raimi are open to it. I'm sure Raimi would be!

What did you read into my message? What I was saying was not that it's in bad taste to say a soundtrack is GOOD. I was only saying that some may think its in bad taste to state something like...The Spider-Man soundtrack should be done like his Batman, or Edward Scissorhands soundtrack.
Being an Elfman soundtrack fan, I would hope that he is allowed to try some new ideas. I don't want to hear a variation of the Batman, or **** Tracy theme. Hopefully he will be inspired to experiment with different instruments, sounds, tones, and textures. He has more range than just brass, strings, and choirs for this type of film. But the question is...Will the studio allow him. I have no idea what he is working on, or how inspired he is, so we shall hear what he comes up with in 2002.
