On May 5th theres is going to be a free comic book day. I was reading this artical and it said on "May 5th rush over to your nearest comic book store - its free comic book day!"
It didnt say much more than that. I wonder if you get 1 free comic book or 2-3-ect.

I don't think you can just get any comic book free...I think there's only one designated free comic book.

I am Borat
04-27-2007, 01:52 PM
you mean like they have a pile of free comics (all the same) and everyone takes one?

LudaChris
04-27-2007, 01:53 PM
No, marvel makes a special comic book to give away free I think.

i think it is spiderman beause it comes out during spiderman 3

Well that would be lame if its just one designated comic, but it would be cool for us to just take any comic we wanted.

Each comic book company makes a special comic that is free so that they can bring in new readers. Marvel is making a special white cover issue for Amazing Spider-Man I think. I know that it is him in the classic suit swinging.

Naw. I got a free comic on that day a couple years ago(sadly the comic shop closed a month later:(), they have several you can pick from. Naturally I got the "Spider-man/Fantastic Four" issue. They put out several issues, and you can pick which one you want. I'm not sure if that's changed since 2005, but that's what it was like when I did it. But yeah, you have to pick from the ones they tell you to pick from. Oh well...

They have a few choices......I think that if we could just grab ANY comic..that wouldn't be good. Some comics are worth alot, or are hard to get...so if they did that...problems would arise. PLUS...everyone would just be taking a comic, and that could do alot of damage for the comic book store.

TODAYS THE BIG DAY THOUGH.....I can't wait....I love going to the comic book store as it is, but I love Free Comic Book Day :D

I wish I had a comic book store around here that did Free Comic Book Day. The only one within 50 miles specializes only in older issues. (I like that fact, because now I own almost every Sinister Six storyline ever printed, but he should seriously consider selling current comics too.)

I think I might have to like, ride my bike about 5 miles to get to the comic shop. I don't know if my Dad can take me. :(

Barnes and noble, Borders or local library. They should all have em. And there is also the possibility of calling the store and asking them to hold one for you so you can pick it up. If all that fails. I'll see if I can scan and email em to you.

Yeah they are. Barnes and Noble does have comics and so does borders. They are on racks. Try looking. I see em there all the time. Even in small stores. I heard they were and libraries, some participate. Not all.

I've gone to 2 out of state and every in state Barnes and Noble and Borders stores. They all have comics. I'm not sure if they have the FCBD comics. I heard they did, but I'm not positive. Call them and ask. Or like I said earlier, call a comic book store and ask em to reserve the Spider-man FCBD comic for you.

As many as you want. And thanks The_Mask. I apreciate your defense. I didn't think Iron Spidey was being a jerk, I did think he was getting cocky with me though. But for people thinking I am snutty all the time, I can see why. So it isn't anyone's fault for thinking I'm being selfriteuous.

Ok, I'm a little confused so correct me if I missunderstand here. A graphic novel or a trade is a collection of issues from any comic series into a book that has a binding and cover and such. There is no Spider-man 3 graphic novel as far as I know. There is the movie adaptation novel, and that is probably what you guys are talking about.

Yeah, thats basically what we all mean. Graphic novel implies comic in book form, so thats why I used it.

There's a new Spider-Man book coming out on free comic book day called Spider-Man: Swing Shift.

This comic book was just like Spider-Man! AMAZING!
It really brought back the good old days of Spider-Man comics!
Whoever wrote it managed to introduce a new villain: Overdrive, cameo lots of other villains, hook the readers into wondering who was behind the new villain (a face on a screen in Overdrive's car), and introduce another hook in the lovely form of new superhero Jackpot!
What I enjoyed the most though was the classic Spider-Man humor and the empathy you feel for Aunt May at the end. There was a day when Spider-Man, not Deadpool, had the best humor in comicdom. Sadly, those days died away with so much screwage of Peter Parker by the powers-that-be in Marvel. Maybe one day, the happy-go-lucky wisecracking Spider-Man will return to us. Well, we can always dream!
Look closely and listen to what Jackpot says. This new superhero on the block seems to be Mary Jane Watson!
Also, I love that the villain was a Spider-Man fan and wanted to keep the note to the police when he was webbed up. A fine addition to his Spider-Man bobblehead collection! LOL!

I stopped by a local comic book store today and picked up a bunch of freebies. And it's not even Free Comic Book Day! This is your heads up to get some before they're all gone!
What I got (which might not even be all of the stuff you can get):
Double-sided small poster (one side has Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and the other side has Black Bolt in a teaser for the upcoming mega-event War of Kings - awesome!)
Marvel's Greatest Collections (a guide of sorts to recent TPBs and graphic novels)
Marvel Previews Dark Reign Edition
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Sketchbook
War of Kings Saga
The New Mutants Saga
Wolverine Saga
March on Ultimatum Saga (Ultimate Marvel - thanks to this book I will know all I need to know about the Earth of Ultimate Marvel!)

Also, from DC I got their version of the guide to TPBs and graphic novels called: After Watchmen...What's Next?

The Hunter has spoken. Happy hunting.
