Here are my thoughts on the cartoon:
Assuming everything is offical (which it may not be) the villains are:;
Vulture
Sandman
Doc Ock
Venom
Green Goblin
Electro
Lizard
Shocker
Hammerhead
Tombstone

That's 10 villains. The first season is 13 episodes. If there is only one season, and no villain comes back in another episode, who shjould the remaining 3 villains be?
Mysterio-awesome villain
Rhino-A massive threat
Scorpion-Maybe

Hopefully Venom will look like his original version,as I don't see why he needs to be updated; the classic look works fine.

Well, Sean (artist) and the producer said they were focusing on the CLASSIC Peter Parker. Which probably means classic villans.

According to producer Greg Weisman, Kids' WB!'s upcoming The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series will be formatted to accommodate both television and DVD.

The series will be set up in arcs, much like comics stories are geared for trade paperbacks.

"We're doing 13 individual episodes to stand alone to air on the Kids' WB!" Wesiman said. "But every three or four episodes also has to work as a DVD, because they're going to be released on DVD by Sony.

"So we wanted as much as possible for those to play like a movie. It won't be the same as if it was written just as one piece as in a movie, but as much as possible, we wanted each unit of three or four episodes to have cohesion to them. And then we wanted the whole season to have cohesion.

"So there's a lot of subtle, not hard to get, but intricate plotting to it."

The villains in the first arc will include Vulture, Hammerhead, The Enforcers (Ox, Fancy Dan and Montana) and Electro.

Other first-season villains will include Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Green Goblin and Venom, and the show's creators have hinted at the formation of the Sinister Six.

In other Spider-Man notes:

* Jamie Thomason is the show's voice director. Thomason's credits include last spring's TMNT and numerous Disney shows since 1991.

The show is being recorded in California.

* Weisman himself wrote the first episode.

* Anna Watson will appear in the show.

* The animated trailer that was shown at Comic-Con International and is now online contains actual dialogue from the series.

I disagree. The plot lines may be classic, but they wanted to modernize the charcters (which I don't think needs to be done). So thje villainsn will probably look differant

I hate how Gwen looks. And Peter's voice gets on my nerves. Why is he always protrayed as a jerk in the cartoons? Other than that, it looks pretty good. They animated the scenes where Spidey is swinging just how I wanted them too.

Ben Diskin is providing the voice of Eddie Brock in Kids' WB!'s upcoming The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series.

Diskin, 25, has dozens of voiceover credits, including Numbuh 1 on Codename: Kids Next Door.

Brock's character is tweaked more than some in The Spectacular Spider-Man in order to tie in with the show's high-school time frame. He will be an assistant to Doctor Connors in the series and has more direct ties with Peter Parker.

Brock will become Venom before season's end and be a major threat to Spider-Man. Like the previous animated series on Fox, this version of Venom won't be tied to the comic book's Secret Wars.

Cmon'!I actually liked Quedesa but Silver Surfer dead,Captain America dead,everyone knows who Peter is,Peter almost went evil and nearly killed KingPin,so messed up.They simply could have just gave Spidey the new Iron Man spidey suit instead of all the Cival war stuff.It's actually really cool but didn't need the unmasking.It should have just been in an alternate universe.And in the other Venom or someone should have killed him.

Well, from what it looks like so far, this series has the 90's one beat on everything, IMO.

I just hope the characterization for all the characters is spot-on and that they keep some of the more dramatic comic events just like they are in the comics. Like a blind date meeting for Peter and MJ is a must.

From all the interveiws I've read and heard, it's going to be one of the most faithful comic adaptions that any screen - big or small - has seen in a long time.

I think Sin City wins the title for most faithful adaptation but then again they only had a couple of issues to work with as opposed to other superhero adaptations with years and years of comics.

But yeah the interviews for the show do sound promosing. I'm starting to think this might be Spidey's "Batman TAS"

And I think she looks the age she is suppose to be portraying. Peter is going to be fifteen/sixteen so I assume that's how old MJ will be. I doubt they'll follow the comics with MJ being a year younger than Peter but if they did she would only be fourteen/fifteen!

IMO I'd say its the third best Superhero/Comic Book Cartoon, the second is X-Men the Animated series and of course the Best is Batman The animated Series.
