I chose the one from the 90's. I saw all 5 seasons and they were pretty much all awesome. I hope the one from 2008 will be the best thought.

I'd say the 90's series from what we've seen so far.It depends on how good the new series is.

Yeah, that's a shame.
Anyways, the Spider-man 90s series is so far the best.

Because of the censors the network placed on the show.

I really enjoyed Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends. It might have something to do with the fact that it's what I grew up with.
My favorite episode was the one with the Chameleon and his mansion of terror. It was called "Seven Little Superheroes" and had guest stars galore! Captain America, Dr. Strange, Namor, Shanna the She-Devil, and of course Spidey, Iceman, and Firestar.
I never saw all the episodes though, but I do have a few episodes on VHS. They are "Spidey Goes Hollywood" which has the Incredible Hulk and Mysterio. "A Firestar is Born" which has Juggernaut and the X-Men. I also have "Origin of the Spider-Friends" with Beetle and Iron Man and I think I have "The X-Men Adventure" as well.
The Incredible Hulk cartoon episode I have features none other than Dr. Octopus. The Fantastic Four cartoon episode from this timeframe features Blastaar.
I wish I had the episode of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends with Swarm in it because Swarm is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains.

Sometimes I think they were a little too hard on the censors, I've heard one of the things Fox put on the show was that Spidey couldn't land on birds on rooftops.

So far, I'd say this ssm show is the best simply because it has thus far done the best job at implementing characters from the comics. The action is simply incredible and the show in terms of appeal caters to all as opposed to either appealing to kids or mature audiences. Either way, ouside of the comics and the original psx games this new show is easily the best adaptation of spider-man. However, the 90s show although it lasted 4 years or so, it was an overall mediocre show with a few brilliant episodes such as, night of the lizard, turning point, the first hydroman episode and of course the masterpiece that is doc ock armed and dangerous. I can't wait to see doc ock make his first real appearance as a villain and see how spidey stacks up.

i loved the 90's series, and have seen every episode. i thought the first symbiote storyline was brilliant, and loved how it stretched out over 3 episodes. also, i loved the "night of the lizard" and "goblin wars" epidsodes. that being siad, i think this series beter captures peter parker, and i like the connecting storylines a lot more. we have to wait to see if the show can keep it up through season 2 and beyond, but right now i am anticipating each episode as if they were all theatrical releases...

the 90s series is amazing, and it will always be. but to be completely honest if both the 90s and the 60s series were on, Id watch 60s spidey just for entertainment value, it just makes me sooo happy haha its definitely my very favorite...let the heckling begin...
spider-jide
04-05-2008, 01:00 PM
I don't believe you. I think you just have this nostalgic feeling towards the 60s show because it was the first animated incarnation of spider-man. It had one of the most memorable and catchy theme tunes of all time also. However, the show was badly made, poorly animated and recycled many of its shots, even using actual cut outs from the comic books themselves, (talk about direct lifting from the comics to another medium).
However, saying that, the things I loved most about the show was the differentiation in vocal patterns for spidey and pete. This has only been reatempted once since then and that was with the mtv spidey show. Also, I loved Jameson so much. He really was the true incarnate of his comic book counterpart.
venomcarnagefan
04-05-2008, 04:02 PM
well, its my opinion right so...i mean its not unbelievable that someone can enjoy something unconvential. Yes, there was recycled this and that ****py bla bla bla but that's not what I focus on. I focus on the culture, the villians...the hilarious dialogue and of course, Jonah. No the animation isnt amazing but it was the 60s...a lot of people deem certain "classic" things as best even when they can be almost comical in their delivery. No, i dont think any less of the 90s series, especially because i was pretty young when it was on..which of course has sentimental significance, Im merely saying the 60s is my favorite.

Definitely the 90's cartoon. It had the best plot in a Spidey cartoon and the best portrayals of most characters!
Yeah, they were called the "Insidious Six."
"insidious" and "sinister" do not mean the same thing!
They really don't. "insidious" means "willing to trap", "sinister" means downright evil.
Not the same thing, so whyyyyyyyyyyyy did they change the name!?
Blame the network for that! They believed that the word "sinister" sounded too menacing to be used in a kids' cartoon, so the writers were forced to change the name
I loved the way Eddie kinda bothered Peter all the time! He was stalking him basicly. Like with Aunt May and MJ. Jezus that was a good episode! Thats how it would be possible to fill a movie with Venom.
Exactly! IMO The Alien Costume was one of the best stories ever told in a superhero cartoon

TAS was cool not so good but cool venom and carnage were the best
then the MTV series were great
but TSSM owns them all and i remember watching those old cartoons too like dexter and tom and jerry was hilarious "before that stupid tom and jerry´s tales................wtf".
spider-man guy
04-06-2008, 12:23 AM
Spider-Man TAS takes second place to TSSM, IMO. It was way too censored, TSSM is thankfully not sufferring from that problem, which I believe to be the bane of SM TAS.
Spider-Man Unlimited... Spidey in space...'Nuff Said...:shake:
The MTV toon took away too many important aspects of Peter's life (Aunt May, Robbie) and had to adapt Peter to be an "MTV teen" as what they called it, which is not Peter by any means.

My favourite Spidey Series is: Either SSM or SM TAS.
Overall my favourite animated shows are:
Batman TAS,JL & JLU,SM TAS, SSM, COTT (Class of the Titans, I like it okay...), and more.
xFredSlacks77x
04-06-2008, 04:41 PM
TAS did a lot of things right, I just believe that TSSM is on pace to keep all the good things about the show, improve upon them, and eliminate the bad parts. for example, the lizard was handled much better in TSSM in my opinion. same with vulture. the shocker had a different but still good approach IMO. i can see the development of characters being far better in this new series, and peter parker being far more relatable.

sorry to double post, but i was under the impression that they renamed the sinister six the insidious six because there were different characters. since the sinister six was not intact (sandman was never seen in the series, and electro was only used in the end) they renamed the six fighters to avoid confusion.

by the way, i have a good example of how TSSM is the best animated series. i already mentioned the fight scenes are better, it is closer to the comics, and peter parker is more relatable. i just remembered how they botched electro. they made him into some russian guy who was unstoppable instead of his original origin, or even his identity of max dillon. a promising villian was totally botched in TAS, and another classic villian, Sandman, was not even utilized. TAS had its moments, but there is no way it at thge quality level overal that TSSM has already reached.

The reason Sandman was never in TAS was because there was going to be a
Spider-Man Movie Directed be James Cameron with Sandman and Electro as the Villians but it never happened and they had already started TAS so it was to late to include Sandman in TAS, but they had Hydro-Man already and he was similar to Sandman except he was made of water. Also because of the Movie they used Electro as that Russian Cop who was Red Skulls son instead of Max Dillian.

I also like the 90s series but the unlimited series was just idk i mean the suit changed and it was like comix zone or something i just couldn't watch it............that much. the only thing worse than the unlimited series was the live action spider-man series i'll admit i got hyped watching it but lookin back at it now i will either laugh or cry.

I also wanna see that series. I loved the 4 episodes I saw of the 60's series. I want to catch up on the older material. Like I'm doing with the comics

For me, I find that the 90's series had a more cinematic feel to it, and that it tried to stay close to the original storylines while introducing newer elements and points of view. and that's what I liked about it. Nevertheless, "spectacular" is proving so far to be a great show with a solid storyline and an interesting twist on classic characters as well. Something for new age Spidey fans.

Woah!! The lizard was handled better in ssm?? Um, after a few more episodes with the lizard then yeah maybe but come on, the pilot episode of the 90s TAS, Night Of The Lizard is not only one of the best episodes i spider-man cartoon history, it's one of the best animated episodes of all time.

I liked 90's Spider-Man TAS and Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends the most, the Spectacular Spider-Man is pretty good, although I do think the animation could be better, I also prefer Spidey as an adult.

Argh!!! I still haven't seen the Spectacular Spider-Man! It's not airing in New Zealand!!
I love the episodes "The Alien Costume" (parts 1, 2, 3) from TAS though. Those are great episodes. I have the Venom Saga DVD.
I've also seen Night of the Lizard - brilliant stuff. Only seen those episodes though :( Aiming to get some of the other DVDs.
EDIT: Oh wait, I forgot, I saw the Green Goblin DVD. But like, ages ago.
