Welcome to the Official Spider-man Movie forums! Before you begin interacting with other members and users of the Forums, we ask that you please review the following guidelines to ensure that everyone has a pleasant, rewarding experience.
Posting Guidelines and Terms of Service
Please respect other members and the content of their posts. This may be a virtual community, but the people here are real and have real questions, thoughts and comments.
The following covers only the basics. Please review our Terms of Service (http://www.sonypictures.com/corp/tos.html) (TOS) for a more detailed explanation of the terms governing your use of the Forums. You are solely responsible for the content of your posts so be sure to click on the Terms of Service link and read the entire article there.
Don't attack or be abusive towards others when their views are different from your own. Don't ridicule someone for the way they spell, punctuate, or phrase things. Debate and discuss the topic, but if it gets personal it gets deleted. If certain people stand out as habitually abusing others, they will be banned. Also, disliking characters is different from bashing the actual actors. Bashing the actors is not allowed.
Don't start off topic threads or take threads off topic with nonsense posts or "chatting." We provide the use of Private Messages, please use them. Hijacking of threads and turning them into chat threads is not only rude, it's disruptive and can result in a ban.
Don't use sexually explicit language or obscenities. Be respectful of those around you.
If someone does post obscenities, or attacks someone, don't respond. Use Report This Post which is the red & white triangle located in the upper right-hand corner of every post. The boards are checked often during the day, and offensive posts won't be up long. If you respond in kind, then you are also in violation of the Community Guidelines.
Please also respect our copyrights and message board rules. Discussions of piracy, whether requesting pirated material, posting links to it, or engaging in discussions on how to get such material, are prohibited. Unauthorized downloads and merchandise constitute piracy, and links to them will be removed.
Role playing games and fan fiction of any kind are also not allowed.
Signature Size Guidelines
You may use one graphic/picture no larger then 500 x 175 pixels. You may also have up to two lines of normal size text. If there are a series of smaller pictures you like, please combine them into one graphic that complies with the 500 x 175 pixels request. If you prefer only text in your signature, please use no more than eight lines of normal size text.
If you're uncertain about the size of your signature, do this to see how many pixels it is - right click on your picture. In the window that pops up you'll see "properties" near the bottom. Click on "properties" and there you will see size and dimensions. Size tells you how many bytes the files is. Dimensions will tell you how many pixels.
Infraction System
The following explains the infraction system on the boards. It's a good way for you to track how many infractions/warnings you've received and for the Admins to track how many infractions/warnings have been issued.
With the exception of posting pirated material, each infraction will generate a point. If someone accumulates 3 infraction points they will be banned for one week. If after a week the returning member continues to accumulates additional infraction points they could be banned for a month or more.
It is possible to get warnings too. Sometimes you will get a warning rather than an infraction. Warnings look like infractions but are worth 0 points and do not count toward your infraction total. Warnings would usually apply to more minor violations, or first time violations.
You may view your infractions points on your profile page. No one else is able to see how many infractions you have. If you do not see any infractions listed that means you have not received one. When you do get an infraction, a private message is sent to you. Infraction points expire after a certain number of days, so your point total can go down. Members can get infraction points for the following reasons:
Improperly Titled Spoiler (expires in 14 days)
Signature Size Violation (expires in 14 days)
Inappropriate Signature or Avatar (expires in 14 days
Inappropriate Language (expires in 14 days)
Actor Bashing (expires in 14 days)
General Disruptiveness (off topic posting, spamming, etc) (expires in 14 days)
Attacking or Insulting Other Members (expires in 30 days)
Attacking Moderators or Administrators (expires in 30 days)
Posting Pirated Materials - 2 points - (expires in 30 days)
If anyone tries to circumvent a temporary ban by posting under another user name, they will be banned permanently.
We reserve the right to ban people immediately as we deem appropriate. Please be aware that posters who deliberately and viciously break the rules may be permanently banned with no warning. Ruling on whether a permanent ban is necessary is ultimately left up to the discretion of the board moderators and administrators.
Permanently banned members who create new names will still be removed from the site without additional warning when they are discovered.
