I watched an episode for the first time (where GG betrays tombstone, and then another episode with Rhino). I feel this cartoon is just too childish. Gwen Stacey is kind of... she sounds like one of those girls who have that girl girl attitude. Doc Ock seems like a scared weakling who is being used to create villains. This cartoon actually makes me miss Spiderman Unlimited.

I didn't like Unlimited that much either, but I feel I could take it more serious than this show.

I'm actually enjoying this cartoon. But the only complaint I have is shocker's suit, what the heck? he looks like he's wearing scooba goggles and what's with the redneck accent?

Isn't serious enough? They're pulling off a drug addiction in this show. Not a forced one at that. Real guns used. Things you don't see pretty much ever on a kids show. The scene in The Uncertainty Principle with Norman, Spidey, and Harry sorting things out was epic. And Unlimited purely s***ed. Spidey in outer space fighting animal people, leading a revolution of hobos, ugh. Even Unlimited's creators thought it s***ed when they were working on it.
And in your response to Doc Ock. You haven't seen Reaction have you? In all the other episodes Otto was not Ock yet. In Reaction his experiment was sabotaged by the Green Goblin creating a guy who takes s*** from no one anymore. THE Doc Ock of the comics.;)
Just my opinion here and even so, stick around for the season finale in a couple weeks. It's gonna get real tragic with some more nice dialogue and even better writing.

spiderman unlimited definitely sucked, but it wasn't that childish just bad. this series is really good, but a little childish. your arguments are good and all, but those are the spiderman parts those are supposed to be serious. think about the peter parker story you can't deny there are some childish parts in it.

lol, reading the above posts. This is what happens when you create a negative thread in a forum dedicated to the spectacular spider man series.

Also, considering that standard and practices are just as strict as ever, i think its amazing that writers are still able to think around these things. As others have said: real guns, drug addiction, and we just saw tombstone got stabbed by 3 of gob's ninja knives. Of course the true seriousness of the show, is the character development that the show is able to pull off. As a result, theres some good emotional scenes ( as demonstrated in uncertainty principle).
Lets just hope that greg weisman is able to stick around and continue spidey's adventures through college! (greg said that he hopes he can do a direct dvd conintuation of the show later on so that we see even a higher level of seriousness to the show; not that it already doesnt).
