Nah man, the thing had more to it than that. When having seen threw it it's still one of the best, it just includes more other Marvel characters and therefor the stories are more science-fictionstyled.

you have to consider what they had to work with back then. They couldn't punch, they couldn't have guns, they couldn't regularly say kill or die. It's not as if they didn't want to. They couldn't. But with what they had, they had a pretty **** good show for it's time. I still love SSM a whole lot better(best cartoon show I've ever seen) but TAS has it's good stuff.

yes with its memorable green goblin story line involving a camera that sent stuff to another dimension and eventually accidentally sending himself. and if you couldn't tell i was being sarcastic. i never liked the gg story line nor the episodes with hydro-man nor the episodes with the disappearance of mary jane. the rest of the episodes i liked but knowing the comics and everything i didn't like that gg came after hobgoblin. pretty much i didn't like anything that was a too science fiction-y or involved anything supernatural i like spiderman being science based and this series just pushed it a little.

at the time you have to admit though that it was the best marvel show out. i mean have any of you seen the 90's iron man series now that was cr@p it had the same villains in every single episode and it was really really corny.

never seen or heard of it. but yeah that show was the inspiration and Spider-Man fan builder for so many people who built Marvel's foundation, including Todd McFarlane I believe.

I do. It doesn't compare anymore. Anyone who says SM TAS is better than TSSM in every way is a spoiled 90's kid who can't get over the show's of their childhood. I should know that because I have to deal with them all over YouTube.
I think SM TAS is overrated now.

makes absolutly no difference!
the stories is what bothered me, and the fact that the couldn't even THINK of the same thing they did in TSSM;a simple web pattern makes for better animation. i mean the animation in SM: TAS looked like he was wearing brcaes on his knees and elbows because of all the webbing they tried not to make it look bad. but TSSM the webbing is simple so they have more room to work with. and again, the stories were horrid.....after Season 1. some of the stories in Season 1 were good. but then they sunk soooo deep in cr@p, it was sad. The didn't even have Gwen Stacy until the last episode and for 5 minutes! not to mention the clone story, Kingpin was basicilly the only villan and the MJ in a black hole oh and lets not forget, they NEVER FREAKIN FOUND HER!!!!! WTF?! they could have at least made one more to clear up the whole point of the final season. in general the animation and stories is what bothered me and still does. i mean, yeah, the censors kinda did ruin that show, and they did a good job working around it. but the stroies were never kept true to the comics and the animation was bad, basiclly ruining the show for me
good thing i was a Batman fan till the age of 8. i would have watched this when i was a kid and been one of those fan-boys spiderman-guy was talking about :D

True. FoxKids was going through heavy censorship back then. They don't have the censorship for shows anymore, but they ruin it by taking out anything that could make a show good.
Ak for the 90's series, it wasn't that bad. I mean yeah, it kinda sucked, but I was 5 when I watched it, so it amazed the snicker-doodles outta me. Now I see everything wrong with it, but It doesn't make it a bad show.

now awesome is WAY too strong of a word. good is even stretching it. mediorce defines this show past the first season. good would define the first season...im not kidding either.
look at these stroies for example, now these are SH!T
-Spider-man goes to Russia
-Man-spider
-Clone Saga/Search for Mary Jane

:shake: Dude who cares if the animation was bad?Cr*p like this is getting just as bad as people worrying about video game graphics. The animation doesn't have to be good for the show to be good. They were also planning a one more season and were gonna bring back MJ.IDK why they didn't.
i care! the bad animation took away Spider-mans agility and made the show look cheap cause the used the same scene of him swinging 20 times during the whole show. the animation wasn't a big part but is was enough to make me hate it.

The first season was great for the most part, yeah. Had it continued with that quality animation and writing I'd probably like the show more today. Unfortunately it all went in a slow paced downhill fall after that. It was sorta a mixed bag; some episodes were great, some were good then the rest were bad.
I'm a bit sad at how some of it holds up nowadays, frankly.:(

If you consider the older comics to be comics from the mid-90's then yes. But otherwise, no...
I thought Kaine was alright but I never can forgive him for killing off the Grim Hunter, Sergei's firstborn son who went out before his training was complete because of Jason Macendale stealing the Kravinov formula from their estate in Russia.
That doesn't mean I think Kaine is a bad character. Just not in my Top 40 Spider-Man villains.
