I was in waldenbooks book store, and noticed there were comics based on "The Batman", an animated series on CW kids or whatever. I was thinking, would anyone like to see a comic series based on the spectacular spiderman series? I know there was a title with that name, but it could be Spectacular spiderman (vol. 2). Post ideas, True Believers! :)

Okay, but lets say you DID read comics. It could be a mini-series or something, and if it is successful, they could make more.

I would so read a comic based on the Spectacular Spider-Man series!!!
Johnny DC is a series of kids comics based on animated series'.
Batman Strikes
Teen Titans Go! (Canceled)
Legion of Superheroes in the 31st Century
and so on, and so on...
They usually do that kinda stuff around this point in a series, but those are all DC comics.
As far as I know, Marvel doesn't do any comics linked directly with their cartoons. Except for an X-Men: Evolution comic that had a very short run. (And it wasn't true to the series at all!)
These comics are usually short little stories about how a quick little walk in the park turns into a quick fight with a villain.
They make for great comics for kids. I buy them all the time just so I can geek out when they make a refrence to the TV show their based on and stuff.
They could even get Sean Galloway (the SSM series character designer) to draw it! I've seen his work in the old Teen Titans Go! comic a few times before.
Sorry for the long post... I love those Johnny DC comics. :D

I mean, I'm sure this wouldn't even come CLOSE to Amazing spiderman, or ultimate spiderman. It has no chance. But it would be interesting.
You also forgot about another series. Remember Spider-Man unlimited? When Spidey was on counter earth? There was a comic series based on that. It lasted five issues. I have issue #4, but it actually is cool.

when i say i don't read comics i mean like the monthly stuff i don't really know if i even have a comic book store near me but i do read graphic novels. if i did read monthly comics i wouldn't mind to get that but only if i hear its good. i don't want to waste my money and find out i don't like it.

Well, I really don't buy new comics monthly either. I really just buy back issues (classics which are more expensive).

I'm a monthly buyer.
I'm at my local comic store every week.
My unofficial nickname there is "Power Pack Girl."

cool. I think you are the only girl comic-fan there is.
I mean, lately I buy Amazing Spider-Man, but I usually miss a few here and there.

I know that I'm the only girl that ever goes into my comic store and everybody looks at me like I must have come in to get directions to JCPenny.
It really is a shame that more girls don't read comics. They don't know what they're missing.
There is hope though. 48% of the Dark Knight's opening viewers were women. True Fact. ;)
Rodger-Dodger
08-21-2008, 05:10 PM
Or Bath and Body works, lol.
And, yes, they don't know what they are missing. Comics are the greatest!!!
That can't be a fact. Mainly because there is no record of what gender each ticket was sold to.
MaydayParker143
08-21-2008, 06:30 PM
I realize that they can't tell 100% who bought what ticket, but they can see who's waiting in line outside the theater.
It was something I read in Entertainment Weekly.
Entertainment Weekly: Knight Fever
"The conventional wisdom about superhero movies, to be sure, is that they attract teenage male nerds and older male nerds who think they're still teenage nerds. But a reported 48 percent of Dark Knight's audience was female, and the number probably would have been even higher had so many women not flocked to Mamma Mia!"

That really can't be true. I mean, maybe in one or two particular theatres, but they can't really tell. The theatre I was in barely had girls. Most of them were taking their sons to the film, or going with their boyfriends.

I'd be surprised if Marvel didn't make a comic series off the show.

I was in the book store, and saw so many based on cartoons. You have The Batman strikes back, teen titans, scooby-doo, etc.

Has anyone read Simpsons Comics #145? It was so cool.
Bart and Homer are cleaning the attic, and they find a box full of Grandpa's old comics. They sell it online, making loads of cash. They open their own comic store in front of the Android's Dungion (original comic store run by comic book guy). They compete with each other. In the end, Grandpa robs the store because he found out Homer sold them without his permission. He sells ALL the comics to comic book guy for just... $1.

I think the story from Spectacular is just a good mix of movies, ultimate and amazing comics and one or two fresh ideas, I don't think it needs it's own comic book series. But thats just me.

08-24-2008, 05:24 AM
okay, but I think they should make a mini series first, like I said before, and if successful continue on with it.

I found some of the art that Sean Galloway has done for the Teen Titans comics.

He so could do a comics for SSM. :D
Here's a link to his blog where you can see even more of his work.

the reason they haven't yet is because people will get it confused with the other Spectacular Spider-Man series.

Well, there was a spiderman unlimited comic series which featured 2 stories in each issue. When the cartoon came out "Spider-Man unlimited", they made that into a comic series known as "Spider-Man unlimited vol. 2"
so this comic series could be called "Spectacular spider-man vol.2"

They could just call it "Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures."
And to be clear, this would be vol 3 since they cancelled Spectacular in 1998 and restarted it back in 2003, only to end it in 2005.

*cough* Excuse me... :p
I happen to be quite a comic geek, and I'm a girl...
I mean, lately I buy Amazing Spider-Man, but I usually miss a few here and there.
...I don't have a comic shop around here that sells recent issues, I'm afraid...
I content myself with picking up the classics. I've got a pretty decent collection now.
Rodger-Dodger

When you buy classic comics, you have to be careful. You could be overcharged. What I do is I write down the issue #, and when I get home I research it online. If the price is similar to the value, I will purchase it.
For instance, I found the origin of Mary Jane in another store (not the one I always talk about). It is being sold for $45, when its value is only $18.
I buy classics most of the time, too. Try to get Amazing Spiderman, and not Spectacular, Web of, or anything. They really have no value. Each is only worth about $3. Also, mix in some Incredible Hulk, Batman, or X-Men comics in your collection. In order to ahve a good collection, you have to have variety.

I've got a dealer who usually sells his issues for 2 or 3 bucks apiece.
Except for Spider-man Unlimited #3(Doctor Octopus' life story, which I paid 5 bucks for), I've never seen an issue there for more than $3.
He cuts me a deal since I'm in there a lot.
For instance, I found the origin of Mary Jane in another store (not the one I always talk about). It is being sold for $45, when its value is only $18. Screw that!
Whatever site you found the value of that issue, I'd get a screenshot and bring it to him. Tell the owner to stop overcharging, because he's not fooling anyone.

I DO have some valuable issues, though... :innocent:

Well, just for reading them, you might as well stick with paper tradebacks. What series do you get for 2 or 3 bucks a piece? It can't be amazing... can it?
I want to buy the second appearance of the Hobgoblin from the guy I normally go to. He is selling it for $40, and is in very good condition. The actual value is $68.

He doesn't sell TPBs, and yes, it is "Amazing." The ones from the 90s.
He doesn't sell the recent issues. But he sells a LOT of different titles. I've also picked up a few issues of "Fantastic Four" and "X-Men", but usually I pick through his Spidey collection, of which he's got a lot. That's where I got my white variant cover edition of ASM #400.
I just wish he'd sell some recent issues, or at least get a copy of either the Ultimate Clone Saga or "Doctor Octopus: Negative Exposure"... I'd kill to get my hands on either storyline, preferably both...

Spidey comics from the 90's are pretty much worth up to $4. In fact, most comics of any series from the 90's aren't very valuable since in this decade, MARVEL was going to go into bankrupcy. Thats why most of these issues can be sold "hot", or less than $1.
----
I'm suprised he doesn't have new issues. He has to get a subscription from MARVEL. My guy gets new ones in every Wednesday.
----
He has two issues of the ultimate clone sage, $3 each.
----
Basically, I plan to buy out his Amazing Spider-Man comics. I bought LOTS from him. Behind the desk, he has three left: 2nd Hobgoblin $40, Spider-Slayer $55, and Death of Gwen Stacy $500. He also has the first spidey team up for $150, when it is really worth $175

I think I've mentioned this, but I've got an original copy of the Master Planner storyline, and the guy who traded it to me had me help him sort out his 10,000+ comics that he's got as my end of the deal, some of which are from the 1930s... which took 3 DAYS to do... AND I had to trade several of my own issues, but it was worth it. :yay:

Yes, I see. But one day, it could serve you as a good investment. Detective Comics #27 (1st Batman, NM condition = $400,000) could buy you a house...

Yeah, I know. But the ones that could actually be worth something, I have no money to buy at the moment...
What are the newest issues he carries?...if I was to tell you that the newest issue I've gotten there was Otto Octavius' transformation into Doctor Octopus from USM? As in Issue #14?
That's about as recent as he gets. :ohthedrama:

All of my "Spider-Man" issues were bought from the 4 for $1 deal. I pay 25 cents for each one. I have the ones where Hobgoblin wants to kill demogoblin.
