I have been a REAL FAN of SPIDERMAN since I could remember.... I have collected almost all the siderman comics and comic cards. I have the entire sex of the first comic cards ever made of Sipderman. He is my hero:)... Now I hope that Sony dosent break my heart with this movie. The recent comic's turned into movies have all let me down. I know that is has been a dream to see these comic heros come to life and I know that I am not the only who thinks this, but if they are going to change the story line and fu@k up the plot and destroy my heros then I wish that they leave the comics alone!!!!! The only hero that I can think of that has been true so what better then the rest is Superman. Even though it is old I think it is a better movie then the recent ones....

Now that I think about ti they have already fu@ked up the plot some what.. they say that they made Peter parker have Genetically alterd hands that makes him shot the web!!! Which is not how the story line goes.. Peter Parker is very smart and makes his own web shoters!!!!!!!!!! See if they already changed this who knows what else they have done to MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!

You may want to type just a little bit s l o w e r. I am not one to make fun of someone who might have dyslexia, however, the letter "x" is quite far from "t" on the keyboard, which is what I bet you meant to hit when you mention the entire sex of the comic cards...

If not, you really have my curiosity piqued! I'd like to see those cards! :-)

I hope you wont be too upset then when you see Spider-Man with organic webbing, no Gwen Stacy, and the Green Goblin as his first super enemy. Look man, what would you have them do follow the comcs line or line scene for scene word for word? Think of it as a completly seperate continuation from the original comic line. A different universe if you will. Even though the story will be a bit different, the essence of what Spider-Man is and the essence of the story will be kept. So does it matter if Spider-Man has an extra power, or if his origin is a little different, just as long as the essentials are kept in. Like the power with responsibility, the death of Ben that drives Peter to be a hero, and the evilness of Norman Osborn.

Stoney, I know you are passionate about this, but try to keep things in perspective. I am a fan as well, but if they want to change some things in the story, it's really ok. I remind myself that it really is just a story, which has been retold by many different people, each with their own slant on things. Nothing Sam Raimi does in his interpretation of the Spiderman story is going to take away from the things that happen in Amazing.

Yes, Spiderman is a hero, but I'd like to remind you that there are greater heros than he. People like the firefighters in the northwest right now, and pilots who land planes that otherwise would crash. A young boy drawn in colored ink on a piece of paper really pales in comparison.

if you think that the Spider-man movie will follow the comics word for word, detail for detail, like a lot of us might want then you will be totally disgusted by the Spider-man movie, I agree with the post above, that it is an interpretation of the Spider-Man story.
Don't compare it to the comics, if you want to compare it to something, compare it to the seventies live action series.
If you take this perspective then the Spidey movie will be guaranteed to impress.

What about our childhood dreamsand heros? Do they have the right to change the essence of our childhood heros? no they dont. I agree that they are real heros in the world and I am one them.. I am a firefighter For the City Of Los Angeles. But when I was growing up sipderman was my hero and that is why I am what I am.. Yes if they are going to get a get a hero from a comic boook they should stick to the story line.. No they dont have to follow word to word but follow the dam story at least. Is that to much to ask?

webboy, I am not concerned about his spelling mistakes. I was simply teasing him about using "sex" instead of "set." Most people here make mistakes spelling, some more than others, yourself included. If I wanted an example of YOUR mistakes, I could look in this thread. ;-)

Let's not get petty about this. That's no way to treat a new arrival to the board.

Lostboy, I think you miss the point. I do hope they keep the essence of what Spiderman is all about. However, I have read the comics. I am not going to this movie to see a live-action rehash of exactly what I have read in the past. There ARE going to be differences. There are many factors that make movies different than books, especially comics. Books can take days to get a story out. A movie has only 2 hours to give you the setup, move the story along, and come to some sort of conclusion. If they followed the comic exactly, then we wouldn't get too far before the movie would be over!

Plus, there is the question of pacing. Did you ever see Princess Bride? Well, in the book, there are a number of chapters that deal with the upcoming wedding of Humperdink and Buttercup. How boring would that have been in the movie?

They are different genres. There ARE going to be differences. If you don't like that, I suggest you stick to the comics and don't see the movie. That is your choice.
