Spider-man dreams/nightmares

Does anyone have the same problems in there dreams that they always dream about being one of there favourite super heros but you always lose your powers, or have to do something to keep them?
heres a list of a couple of my dreams:
1. I was spidey had all the powers but had to put coffee in the mask to prevent me from losing them.
2. Was one of the ghostbusters but after pressing the button on my photon thrower it turned into a hotdog.
3. Was Superman flying around with that really attractive Super-girl (Helen Slater), but then fell out of the sky straight into the ground like that scene in the Matrix, only messier!
Dreams just tease me, anyone have any therapy I can go to to control them?

I am very interested in dreams. Lucid dreaming, in particular. The idea of lucid dreaming is that you realize you are dreaming, and rather than wake up at that moment (which is what most of us do), you take control of your dream. When you do, you can make anything happen! I have done it twice, and both times, I made myself fly. It was difficult to maintain my dream and stay asleep, but I used the spinning technique, which worked for a while (cilck on one of the links below for more information).

If you are ever able to dream lucidly, you will get a tremendous feeling of euphoria. It is a rush like you have never known, and a tremendous let-down when it ends (like when your wife wakes you up in the middle of a great sex dream!). If you are interested in trying (yes, it can be learned!), there are many sites dedicated to lucid dreaming. Here are a few:

I am struggling with writing a story about lucid dreaming. I would love feedback on the subject. Of course, the hero of the story is a huge Spiderman fan! :-)

Im not sure if i've ever had a lucid dream, BuzzLy. I had a dream once where i realised i was dreaming, but i had no control. It was a nightmare, and i just couldn't wake up from it. Really frieghtining at the time. So Buzz, is this a lucid dream? Oh, are you ever gonna read MY story?

My dreams are usually Lucid dreams, I did a lot of research a while ago on the subject and learnt how to control my dreams, it's just that whenever it's a dream that I seriously enjoy, like the Spidey ones, I get distracted by enjoying the dream rather than controling it! It's kind of a double edged sword, I'm pretty sure it's my subconcious trying to tease me!
Theres another way of getting lucid dreams as well, and thats through self-hypnosis, you can basically create your own dream, but hypnotising yourself is quite difficult, or so I find.

A dream I have had for years...is one where I am being chased by a group of people or a monster or whatever and I am constantly running.
BUT
I start to run so fast, that I actually lift up off the ground. This kind of makes my body like helium where it seems like I am really light, and I bounce over trees, houses whatever...
I have to keep myself from going too high though because I risk passing that "point of no return" line and just floating away.

Am I the only one who had a dream about having Spideys powers? You're right,BuzzLy, lucid dreams are cool. The dreams I like best are the ones where I can fly. I can often think of what I want do dream about and I dream it. Is that considered a lucid dream? I also had a dream, which is my favorite all time dream, where I had Supergirls' powers and I was dressed just like her, the blond hair, short skirt, the whole thing. I flew up in space and fought a female villian called "Medusa" funny I remember the whole dream, and I had that dream about 5 years ago.

For years I was haunted by a recurring dream that just really scared me. In the dream everything would be "normal" although I'd be in a house or building that I've never been in... All of a sudden, I'll turn around and see this huge black shadowy looking figure coming to attack me. When I tried to fight back, I kept pulling my punches and kicks. Before I got my butt kicked too badly I'd wake up. Haven't had one of those dreams in a few years now... and I'm glad.

When I know I'm dreaming, I usually dream that I can defy gravity and jump like I was on the moon or something. The last time I controlled a dream, I was trying to get to a class but the hallways were too packed with other students and profs. I took off my sandals and crawled along the ceiling like Spidey. People below me saw and thought nothing of it. Heh, I woke up and was just like "hey, that was new... I like"

I've had a few interesting dreams.
One, I was at some convention-type thing, all the walls were that grey, knockout type walls. I was wearing some weird white spandex type suit and was webslinging. For some reason the ceiling of the place was like 100 ft up. I kept avoiding my parents so they wouldn't see me webslinging. I think at one point I was crawling through air ducts with the invisible woman...

I think the weirdest dream I've had lately was when I woke up, turned off my alarm and went through the whole morning rutine, then suddenly, I wake up and find out that the whole getting ready thing was a dream and I spelt in half an hour later than I wanted to. Thing is, half an hour was how much time when by in my dream. That really freaked me out when I suddenly woke up, back in bed, pjs on, etc.

I had a few webslinging dreams... I liked them so much better than the flying ones. When I dream of web swinging, I can "feel" the Gs, kind of like when you're on a roller coaster. Only thing though, is that I never see the webs I'm swinging from. When I look at my hands there are no web shooters or web slits in my wrist, but the webs come from somewhere and I swing from them.

I like my "flying" dreams, but having Spideys powers is quickly becoming a favorite. The dreams usually consist of me only having the web shooting powers. When I have those types of dreams, I can see the webs shooting out of my wrists, there is usually a lump on my wrists. I can't ever get my fingers to fold all the way down, I can only reach as far as the end of my palm of my hand. There are slits on my wrists where the webbing comes out of. They close right up after shooting the webs. It never hurts, but I can feel the webbing shoot out, it's a really weird feeling.

With me, I'll look at my hands and it'll look normal. But when I got to shoot a web it just happens and I just know the line is there even though I'm not looking. It's strange, but in the dream it feels natural. I've never had a dream where I could wall crawl and websling. Always one or the other.

I hadn't slept properly in almost six months. Just looking at my entries and observing the times is enough to make me want to lose sleep over.

When I did dream; I would always be observing. Once and awhile I would be confronted or would intervene.

My dreams would be in color, sometimes inverted, cel shaded, and rendered with wire frames. Sometimes I would see shapes and see people thoughts and read what they say. I would dream in noir and some dreams were even silent.

For the longest time I had a companion in my dreams who would observe me or with me. --But she disappeared.

And then after awhile I stopped with the dreams.

Maybe I'm working too hard. --Or hardly working as some might say.

But its just me... or am I a dream?

Hey Gwen i've dreamt of being spidey too. I talked about it in a different topic. Alot of what you guys dream about are pretty similar to my dreams. Like, in a dream when im fighting a guy, it feels like im trying to throw my fist through water and i just ant hit the guy properly. An extremely annoying dream.

The weirdest dream i've ever had would have to be when i was dreaming i was in this african american neibourhood. I was either walking around or driving around, looking out the window, but i cant remember. It was night time. In every house i passed there seemed to be alot of activity, like a party or something. The next thing i know, im in one of the houses. Everyone is an african american except me, and everyones partying. Alot of the people were famous african americans. Then, suddenly, very peacefull music came on and someone was playing a piano. People started singing in very peacefull voices. They were singing silint night. It was the most peaceful i've felt in a dream. Then, people started floating. I started floating too, i was floating on my back over all the people and i was just so at peace. Very weird dream. Anyone wanna tell me what they make of this dream?

Oh ok. Buzz, thanks for the links. Im now attempting to learn how to achieve lucid dreaming. Just this morning i remembered a dream i had, so im on the right track.

Good. That's a step in the right direction. Now you have to try to realize you're dreaming while you're dreaming. That's when things get really interesting.

One technique I have heard of for lucid dreaming is to do "reality checks." Get in the habit of always looking at your watch to see what time it is. Do it regularly. When you do, always seriously ask yourself, "Am I dreaming right now?" It will seem silly, but it's very necessary.

Eventually, you will have a dream that you are looking at your watch. Almost every time, it will either be the wrong time, or there will be no face, or something strange. When you ask yourself, "Am I dreaming right now?" You will suddenly realize you are dreaming. Most likely, you will wake up, but you will feel totally amazing, and excited that you actually realized you were dreaming.

If you can do this, it will be the first step towards lucid dreaming.

What most of you have been describing is called VIVID dreaming. You usually can remember every single detail, and sometimes you will remember being in control, but you really were not. These are also pretty cool dreams, but nowhere near what lucid dreams are. When you have a lucid dream, you will KNOW it, and you will wake up feeling totally jazzed. It's pretty amazing.

As far as Spidey goes, I have never had a dream that I had any powers at all. Perhaps I will soon, who knows?

Yeah, that's one thing I haven't done in a loong time. Mostly because I stopped wearing time pieces a few years ago.

But the reason that test works well is because the brain is split into two half, one logical side, one creative side. During REM sleep, the creative side takes over. When you look at a clock or try to read a book in the dream world, the logical side won't pick anything up. Resulting in either a blank clock face or a strange time. Once, I did that test and my (digital) pocket watch said 55:87! What the hell time is that? I had to have been dreaming.

:-) I don't know how many times I have woken up and thought, "woah, that was strange. Why didn't I realize I was dreaming THAT?" Of course, just as you said, your brain believes everything it "sees" in a dream. Of course, watches are only one way. You can use clocks, too. There are many different techniques, and some seem to work better than others for some people. The pages I pointed to should give some tips.

There is also a newsgroup dedicated to this topic if you are seriously interested in this. I'm new here. I love the subject of dreaming so I had to reply.

I first had a lucid dream when I was alot younger. I used to be plagued with nightmares. Once I was running from a few tornados that were chasing me (I live in alabama) I couldn't run, it felt like something was pulling me back. I then decided to unhook the ancor from my belt. After that I could control the dream.

Thankfully the nightmares have almost totally stopped. Recently though I did have two nightmares within two days of each other. One didn't involve a lucid dream. There was this invisible poltergiest that was latched on to my leg and trying to drag me into an elevator shaft. My little brother said I was growling and cursing in my sleep. The other dream was once again about a ghost (my phobia), but this time it was a banshee. She was trying to wreck my neighborhood but I realized it was a dream. I've always wanted powers like Goku from DragonballZ...let's just say that banshee was seriously toasted ;)

Hi, Im new here too, but I've had quite a few Lucid dreams. And until just now, I did'nt know there was a term for it.

My favorite ones always use to start out like this: someones chasing me. Infact, My first lucid dream was triggered by "Chucky" the killer doll. He was chasing me, but I became so scared that my running in the streets, (broad day light) turned into leaping efforts, with one jump landing me in the branches of a tree. I actually landed on them, and realized what I just did. But Chuck was jumping too. I was still scared and took another jump from the branches into the next tree, but every jump got higher and ****her away from chucky. It was then I realized, how fun it was, and that I was in controll. I actually negated Chucky from the dream, just so I could jump more.

But it felt real, because it looked, felt, smelled, just like the real world. And it was'nt overdone, it was EVEN cloudy outside. I had the same dream, later that very same week. Probably because I was so excited to have. I continued to have more high bouncing dreams, but in my dream I turned it into flying. It always starts as high powered bounces, and then from there I can control it, into flying. Soaring, takes concentration, and its difficult for me to keep flying at a good level like planes, with out decending or continuing to keep going higher. The coolest one I had of those, was at night in front of an office builing with grass in the front. And it felt like 15 minutes worth of me just learning how to fly.

My other Lucid experiences involve nightmares and monsters. But, 3 years ago, they became Lucid, because instead of me running and hiding, I once turned around and fought back. They'ed swing at me, but never get a hit on me. But my puncehs would hurt them. From then on any monsters, would instantly warn my mind that Im in a dream, and it's my opportunity, to start fighting.

I think what helped me achieve this at the time was, Batman:TAS. Im sure sub-consciously(un-consciously-there is no sub concious) I kept the episode in mind, where Dr. Strange took Bruce and gave him any dream he wanted, via this machine. But Bruce broke the cycle by opening a Book, and there were no real words in it. Just jumbles. It may seem silly, but that episode always stayed with me, and it even explained how your mind cant read in a dream. At the time, I had never heard that before. And even attempted to read things in later dreams because of that episode. It was true. I woke up very fascinated.

I've ony ever had one lucid dream, I was in Woolworths (supermarket), and I just KNEW it was a dream. So I just walked aroud the store, not paying for anything, teleporting from one spot in the store to another, and having fun. Pity it only lasted for a few minutes, but it was kinda boring anyway.

I've had a few Spidey dreams, but instead of being Spidey, or a chaacter from the story, I was some made-up bad guy. If a movie is pathetic, the bad guy's always worth watching it. The bad guys do not need any redeeming characteristics, and the bad guys do whatever they feel like, and they're in charge.
I was some female, a lot like the Spider-man powers, without the wall-crawling and without any web-shooters. I had a big, thick ponytail, and that was te only thing that you could see of me - full body suit, in negative colours of Spidey's costume.
The dream went something alongs the lines of: working for the Kingpin (kinda showing off), in charge of the Insidious Six, beat the **** outta Spidey, presented him (unconcious) to the Kingpin, another dream started, maybe 'cos I don't know what would happen next.
Weird, huh.
Incidentally, who made up the Insidious Six? Shocker, Doc Oc, Rhino, Mysterio/Vulture, Scorpion, someone. argh.
(I've only seen the cartoon, I've barely read any comics ever)

I was in a tropical paradise. The most beautiful beach, exotic animals running around, a hugh beautiful waterfall and miles from anyone...
All of a sudden Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Alyssa Milano, Gwyneth Paltrow and Brittany Spears shows up carrying a tray of fruits, chocolates and whipped cream!
And they are all completely.......

Geez, I never realised this thread was still being replied to, as far as Spidey dreams go I seem to remmember having one last night but my memory of it is kinda vague, I just remember crawling along the ceiling of this wierd creepy house that was all falling apart, and there were neon lights everywhere lighting the place up a little. One of my friends was walking along the floor chattin with me, then I saw this really fine girl walking away from us to one of the doors in the room, I turned to him and said,
"I'm outta here!"
And then I webswinged towards her, I can't remember the rest, it'd probably turn out like that bathroom scene in "The Shining" you know, when Jack Is fondling that women, and she goes all icky!
I geuss it's just halloweens influence slowly creeping in!

FLIP: It sure sounds like you had a lucid dream. Sometimes it's hard to tell. A vivid dream is one where you remember every detail, but you really didn't have control. There are varying degrees, though. Sometimes, you are lucid, you know you are dreaming, but you are having trouble taking control.

Most of the time you will wake up within a few minutes of becoming lucid. If you feel yourself waking up, try spinning yourself in your dream. That is supposed to help you stay asleep and stay in control.

i have never had a spiderman dream or ones where i have superpowers they are usually nonsense dreams and they are usually silent no noise or any thing and it is usually darkish or in the morning and really bright. the darkish are usally scarry. bright ones are usally nonsense dreams

like in one dream i woke up a monster came out of a closet (he looked like a guy in a blue dinasour costume not scarry at all) the monster knocked down my brothers door sat on his bed the bed broke then the door turned into a little monster sat on the bed and the bed broke even more that was it.

this was the strangest dream i have ever had.

I know, you should hear some of the other dreams I've had, there've been huge anacondas, a million pythons and 10 aquariums full of all species of Lizards.

Mine are really rapid ones.Like little 2 second dremas one after the other.Very weird.One time when I was younger I had a dream I drove a monster truck into a mud pit,and in one this dog kept following me around in this very strange mall,it followed me up some steps and then two little pitch black cartoons handed me a cigar,then they took it back and it siad,''Hey that's mine!''Then the dog started following me again.Then in one part Hannah Montana was saying there was a snake under my bed.Weird.

Last night I had a dream I met bmwdriver on the streets of the city
which is weird because I dont know what he looks like
but there was a cab driver that ran into a bmw and then the kid in the bmw had comic books and I asked him if he was bmwdriver and he's like
"yeah! I drive a bmw! Or at least i did until this jerk ran into me (points at cabbie)"
I was like no no no
bmwdriver like an online ID...Is that you?
and then all the color went out of his face and he got freaked out that I knew who he was


it was really strange and awkward

Then Bigfoot was captured by the military and I became Spider-man and had to save him, I was fighting Sabretooth on top of a building while holding Bigfoot's cage so he would'nt drop, Sabretooth said something funny and I was trying not to laugh but the rope was slipping.
