hello nerds and nerdettes. you know how the whole organic webbing has every 'true fan' leaking out of their shorts? well, dont ask why, but i bought an issue of wizard where they had 'the hottest spider-man movie news' which consisted of three pictures [ two of which you've probaly seen already ] and half a page of interview with neil spisak, production designer for the 'spider-man' movie.

anyhoo, spisak says spider-man will indeed have web-shooters. the following is what spisak said. for you busy or lazy peeps the web-shooters are mentioned on number five. i'm typing this myself so read it you homos.

First Look
The 'Spider-Man' Set

Even a superhero needs a place to crash.
Luckily for Peter Parker, better known as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, he has Neil Spisak, production designer for the "Spider-Man" film to make him feel right at home-literally, in Aunt May's house. "[ Director ] Sam [ Raimi ] wanted to make sure Peter came off as a regular kid, kind of a geeky misfit," explained Spisak. "He's really smart but ordinary, so when he becomes extraordinary it's a conflict on how to deal with it."
Sit back, relax and check out these exclusive photos [ not exclusive, spider-man hype had them - amy ], as Spisak gives us the thinking behind the making of "Spider-Man!"

Peter's Bedroom

one. "All of the books on the shelf are textbooks. Sam wanted them to be varied in interest. There's quite a few science books in there, since Peter's a budding scientist."

two. "We wanted to have female comic book characters on the walls. I believe we ended up with both Fathom and Tomb Raider."

three. "If you look closely on the wallpaper, it's actually a very subtle graphic representation of a spider web. The pattern was made from a spider-web design but I'm not sure anyone will ever notice that. Well, I guess they will now.

four. "The general color pallet for the movie, I got from the comic books. Rarely is there any of the red and blue of the Spider-Man costume in evidence - that sets him off in the comic book. We did the same thing in the movie, except for places we wanted to reinforce the red and the blue. So there's a lot of those colors in his room but there's not in the rest of the movie. Like his desk chair is red, the wallpaper is blue."

five. "One of the objectives of the room is to show that Peter is a geek - he's not cool. He's a pack rat, he collects bits and pieces if things; that's how he builds the web-shooters. The idea is that Peter even built his own computer so there are peices all over and around the desk."

* "That's the window that face's Peter's backyard. I don't think we ever see him go out it, but that is the window he has to use to get out."

* "Sam was very intent on not making Peter look priviledged in any way. Things I think normal kids have, CD players, computers and things like that, Sam wanted to stay away from. He said Peter wasn't well off. That's why Peter builds his own computer. Most of the stuff in the room Peter found or was given to him. Nothing is new or expensive."

* "Originally, we wanted to stack comic books in the room. We never actually did it though because there just wasn't room anywhere."

* "Hanging right over Peter's desk are a couple of photos of Mary Jane that Peter takes early in the movie."

I thought your report was pretty fair, open and very enlightening.

And I'm glad the production designer left the stack of comics out. That would've been extra hella cheesy to even have them fitted into the movie.

AMY--"i'm typing this myself so read it you homos"

Kinda the pot calling the kettle black huh? OR you could be referring back to one of your earlier posts on Homo meaning "Homosapian". But I don't think that is what you meant this time.

Also, correct me if I am wrong [and I am sure everyone will] but I don't remember Peter being THAT poor.

ORYM: you have to remember peter did have to get a job very early in his life to support aunt may's medical condition and pay the bills after uncle ben was murdered [ i havent read continuous spidey books in a few years so i dont know if that concept has changed any ]. so i find raimi's view plausable.

as for the homo reference, i was finally quoted. yee-haa! actually that was meant as 'homosexual'. playing around with words cuz i'm one of them crazy *****s. kind of like how some african-americans call themselves "n iggers". i can say it, but breeders can't! i kid, i kid. just dont call me your's.

I know you like to play on words. And most of what you say is pretty well noted and generally thought out with explicit detail.

That's part of the reason why I come here is to see what more you have to say.

--And that's all I have to say about that.

Now on the subject of the room; Is there anything you would have done differently based on what you found out based on your findings?

Good work diggin all that info up (although I must admit that I already read it awhile ago). I agree with them leaving out the "stacks of comic books" but not because of no space in Pete's room, just because it would be a bit... cheesey. I wish they did have a scene with him going out his bedroom window in costume, it would make us (the viewers) kinda identify with him even more. I mean heres this guy with all these amazing abilities... but he has to "sneak" out his bedroom window (I dunno, but I like it).

On another note, African American's (Blacks... whatever) dont call each other "N*ggers" or "N*gger" (they wont let me put in the "i")... the slang term they use is "Nigga" or "Niggas" or "Niggaz". I am very happy to have black in me (as it helps me to relate to quite alot) but I find that the use of "racial slang" is ridiculous and choose to keep it out of my day to day vocabulary. Especially changing a degrading term "******" to a spinoff word "Nigga" to use towards another person (as this term has been used as a description for mostly all nationalities *Example; "Yo, thats my Nigga" or "Me and my Niggaz are just chillin". Understand? *me smiling*
(Ya see Amy... your lessons in "Myronomy 101" is continuing... perhaps I will give you a peel & stick gold star or better yet, a Scratch N Sniff Sticker! What scent would ya like?) *hehe*

I, too, read that article. The view of his room (http://www.spidermanhype.com/cgi-bin/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=The_Movie&image=petesroom.jpg&img=&tt=) is pretty cool... I like the red and blue colors. They suggest that they are his favorite colors, and help to explain why he chose those colors for his costume. It looks just like a teenage boy's room.

The only thing I do NOT like is the webbing. That's a little silly. We KNOW he's Spider-Man. Why did they put all that webbing up?

(I could be mistaken) But I think the webbing is up because its a scene or idea that perhaps portrays the idea that Peter was testing his webshooters or was thrilled at the realization that he had the ability to project web fluid and well.... went a bit "nuts" with it.

P.S: Hey, I have that wooden doll by the red book on the very top shelf above Peters desk. Actually I have one hidden in the background of each room in my home, the idea is to see if you can find him and notice that he's sort of the "theme to each room. What the hell and I talking about & why? *hehe*

i am aware of some african-americans' slightly changing the spelling of the world 'n igger' to the slang term 'nigga', still regardless of someone leaving out 'er' and adds an 'a' the term was still originally conceived out of pure hate and lack of respect for a race that was once considered less than human. frankly, african-americans [ and everyone else ] who use the term 'nigga' are complete ignoramouses of the word's original origin.

i can understand how some blacks can feel, using and reusing the word exhaustedly to take it back, being their's to the point where it's original definition is lost but that wont ever happen. the enslavement of africans and converting them to christianity was the worst insult british decendents could have done to them and that can not simply be ignored.

much like how gays and *******s, myself included, use the term '*****' that was once considered a put down for us but the word ***** never was intended to be bad, it just means weird. who the hell wants to be normal?

I agree with ya, like I said before (to me) the use of "racial slang" is ignorant in itself but hey... whatcha gonna do?.

The Blacks as a "race" have a history of royalty and Kingship among the Ancestry of Africa. Most of the Pharohs that existed were black, alot of them... as Egypt is in Africa (dont be fooled by Hollywood actors.). But either way, slavery has existed for thousands of years, even before the enslavement of Africans by the "white man". Africans had other Africans as slaves as well. And there is a HUGE difference between the the Christianity that Jesus taught and is the founder of, and what the British brought to Africa (the way that it was put upon them in itself goes directly against the teachings of Christ). There is a HUGE difference between True Christianity and the teachings of Christendom... but thats another story altogether. Anywho, if I was a teenager again I would definitely hang out with Peter Parker. I think his room is cool in its own way.

P.S: Hey Amy, I got another burrito left (no meat at all)... wanna bite?. *hehe*

Nice tidbits there, Amy. I did not see the article and appreciate you sharing with us.

Now what I want to know is, is there anything at all that you don't consider to be an erotic toy?? ;) <g>

Having comics in the room would show that Pete is a comic fan, which he was in the comics. So i dont really understand why they left htat out. They said there was no space in his room, but that would have made it all the more like a teenage guys room. Real messy. They could have just had comics lying about the room.

First of all, I see your point myro, but isn't his webbing supposed to dissolve after a certain amount of time? That stuff looks like string!

Second, there is PLENTY of room for comics in that room!!! The shelving next to his door, the top of his computer, the FLOOR, the BED! Sheesh! That room is WAY too neat for a high-school kid.

I think it would be very cool to see him glance through a DC comic, shrug, and throw it into the trash. :-)
