hello nerds and nerdettes. you know how the whole organic webbing has every 'true fan' leaking out of their shorts? well, dont ask why, but i bought an issue of wizard where they had 'the hottest spider-man movie news' which consisted of three pictures [ two of which you've probaly seen already ] and half a page of interview with neil spisak, production designer for the 'spider-man' movie.
anyhoo, spisak says spider-man will indeed have web-shooters. the following is what spisak said. for you busy or lazy peeps the web-shooters are mentioned on number five. i'm typing this myself so read it you homos.
First Look
The 'Spider-Man' Set
Even a superhero needs a place to crash.
Luckily for Peter Parker, better known as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, he has Neil Spisak, production designer for the "Spider-Man" film to make him feel right at home-literally, in Aunt May's house. "[ Director ] Sam [ Raimi ] wanted to make sure Peter came off as a regular kid, kind of a geeky misfit," explained Spisak. "He's really smart but ordinary, so when he becomes extraordinary it's a conflict on how to deal with it."
Sit back, relax and check out these exclusive photos [ not exclusive, spider-man hype had them - amy ], as Spisak gives us the thinking behind the making of "Spider-Man!"
Peter's Bedroom
one. "All of the books on the shelf are textbooks. Sam wanted them to be varied in interest. There's quite a few science books in there, since Peter's a budding scientist."
two. "We wanted to have female comic book characters on the walls. I believe we ended up with both Fathom and Tomb Raider."
three. "If you look closely on the wallpaper, it's actually a very subtle graphic representation of a spider web. The pattern was made from a spider-web design but I'm not sure anyone will ever notice that. Well, I guess they will now.
four. "The general color pallet for the movie, I got from the comic books. Rarely is there any of the red and blue of the Spider-Man costume in evidence - that sets him off in the comic book. We did the same thing in the movie, except for places we wanted to reinforce the red and the blue. So there's a lot of those colors in his room but there's not in the rest of the movie. Like his desk chair is red, the wallpaper is blue."
five. "One of the objectives of the room is to show that Peter is a geek - he's not cool. He's a pack rat, he collects bits and pieces if things; that's how he builds the web-shooters. The idea is that Peter even built his own computer so there are peices all over and around the desk."
* "That's the window that face's Peter's backyard. I don't think we ever see him go out it, but that is the window he has to use to get out."
* "Sam was very intent on not making Peter look priviledged in any way. Things I think normal kids have, CD players, computers and things like that, Sam wanted to stay away from. He said Peter wasn't well off. That's why Peter builds his own computer. Most of the stuff in the room Peter found or was given to him. Nothing is new or expensive."
* "Originally, we wanted to stack comic books in the room. We never actually did it though because there just wasn't room anywhere."
* "Hanging right over Peter's desk are a couple of photos of Mary Jane that Peter takes early in the movie."
