You people are warped. It doesn't really matter who fills in what costume,as long as the film remains true to the charaters and doesn't take way too much out of context.

No, no, no, the only trouble is to see anyone inside that stupid suit. I hate that web texture and the lack of imagination when it came up to put relief to the forms of the muscles. Don“t they know that smooth surfaces are much better for that purpose?

I think the costume is really as good as it gets for a live film...as for the muscle detail,I too wish that we could see a more sinewy, muscularly defined Spiderman, but the truth of the matter is for film it would be very difficult. There's not really a strong material that would show off the features of someone who is naturally well-built(like an actor or stuntman),so something actually skin-tight is definitely out of the question. The suit has to be strong for stunt purposes. As for constructing a suit that gives the "illusion" of muscularity, like the Batman suit,I think we all know that would be too constricting to allow for Spidey's agile, lithe movements. His ability to contort is more important than how cool he looks. Considering the difficulty of bringing Spiderman to the screen,i think so far they've done what's best as far as the suit...

I agree with Sulir. The costume is as good as it gets for a live movie. Character agility is important and I'm glad they're doing the costume right. That hasn't happened to a comic book character since Christopher Reeve portrayed Superman. Who knows, maybe John Williams & The London Symphony Orchestra will do the music for Spider-Man like they did for Superman: The Movie and all of the Star Wars movies.

The only thing that matters is if the actors/actresses look like Mary Jane or Peter Parker, etc. I think the actors/actresses will do a great job. If you look at the cast it looks a lot better than other movies.

I agree! When you look at Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Michael Keaton as Batman, who do you think portrays their character better?

The perfect actress to play Mary Jane is Nikki Cox,They should have casted Christopher Tucker to play the greengoblin all you have to do is put make up on him and give him a costume! Katie Holmes would have been my second choice for M.J

I don't know if you already know this, but the costume does give a great muscular and athletic look.
I was a background actor when they made the scenes in California.
THe stunt actors are quite muscular, but the skn tight cotume takes a little off, but, the costume has painted designs where the actual muscles should be in a way that no matter how the actor moves it appears to be really muscular... i don't think your gonna understand me, but trust me, if in real life at a distance looks great, imagine how it's going to look on film.

I was there to Adrian, and you're right. The costume is going to look great on film. If anyone ends up grossly dissapointed with the end results, then I'm sure they'll be in a small minority. I seen one of the stunt Spidey's in a tent between shots in partial costume, with a robe on over that. The robe was open in the front, and appearently he was wearing a light suit of "muscles" (chest/ torso area) that went on before the actual costume went over that. If anyone else out there knows more about this, let us all know.

I think I'll agree that the Spidey costume is great!!!!! It's true to legend and it has extreme mobility! As for Gobby,...I can dig an upgrade on the world's craziest Keebler elf!!!!s

It's so hard to cast someone who looks like the character from the comic (or who you have pictured) and at the same time has some acting credibility. Sometimes I've been pretty disappointed, Dulf Lungren as Punisher, and sometimes I have been pleasantly surprised, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
I was a little wary to see Toby as Spidey at first, but now I'm starting to come around... I guess we'll all find out next year!!
I always wanted to see Arnold play Colossus but that's just me.

Michael Keaton did a great job playing batman, now Val Kilmer and George Clooney... we won't go there! (****!)

The only problem I have about you guys arguing about costumes from batman, superman and Spider-Man, is that you're comparing Dc comics(Batman, Superman) with marvel comics(Spidey), and in my personal, humble opinion, Marvel is way better than DC, more of the super heroes from Marvel are cooler DC has mainly Superman, Batman, Flash, and Wonder Woman. Marvel has Spider-Man, X-men, Hulk, Iron Man, Fan 4, the list goes on. X-men was an awesome movie, and I believe that Spider-Man will be even better. Yay for Marvel!(sorry to any DC fans)

Actually, it seems to be more of a comparison between movies, since whats being discussed is a 3d figure filling out an actual set of duds, as opposed to a 2d drawing, which you can do anything with, (and be percieved in many ways.)
Besides, aside from Superman, (and the old batman small screen) How many heros outfits have made it to live-action unchanged?
Not Batman, Lara Croft(yes, a stretch) Flash, (nosepiece)
Punisher, any X-Men, (maybe Storm, Okay, i'll give you Xavier, and good cover with "yellow spandex" cut-up from Cyke to Wolvie.)
So I only have one question:
In the Tv series Incredible Hulk, were his pants purple?
Or was he "Livin' in blue jeans?"
<smile.>

I agree with spidon.....Marvel rocks! X-Men was a great movie and I'm sure SpiderMan will not dissapoint old fans and newcomers alike.

spidey's costume in the trailer was so much cooler than the comic costumes.

Ok let's just get this straight peoples. Danny Elfman should be the only guy allowed to do the music for ANY comic book movie. Seriously. His timing, mood, and syncopations are some of the best around. And he seems to have a great warped sense of humor to boot. Later gators.

Nap,
I agree, Michael Keaton what the best Batman I've ever seen. Not only did he have the hair, eyebrows, and eccentric behavior that made Bruce Wayne, but he also had the cold-blooded look that made Batman. I do think that Tobey is going to make an excellent Peter Parker; and an excellent Spider-Man.
SinSeer,
Wonderwoman's costume was also flawlessly recreated. And I think The Scorpion, Raiden, and the villian from Street-Fighter was pretty accurate too (forgive me for even mentioning that whack movie in a serious Spidey Message Board).
Sidon, DC vs. Marvel,
First of all, Action Comics and Dectective Comics brought you two of the world's greatest heroes:
The Superman (full of integrity and truth)
and The Batman (full of wit, skill, and revenge).
Second, Marvel is great as well, but has a different kind of comic edge. Whereas DC was ALWAYS very plot oriented, Marvel was ALWAYS very action oriented.
DC focussed on the hero's intellectual prowess; Marvel focussed on the hero's physical prowess.
DC - Inner Emotions and Thoughts.
Marvel - External Actions and Consequences.
Both are needed, but don't dis the original.
Marvel has wonderful stories and appealed origianllly to the younger crowds. Thus you have titles like:
"The Incredibile...", "The Fantastic...", "The Amazing...", "The Spectacular...", "The Man Without Fear...", "The World's GREATEST Comic Magazine...", "That's right true believers!", "Secret Wars"
DC was more internal and mature:
"The Word's Greatest Detective...", "The Man of Steel...", "The Greatest Criminal Mind of our Time...", "The Fastest Man Alive...", "...Truth, Justice, and...", "The Justice League of...", "The Legion of...", "The Lasso of Truth", "Crisis on Infinte Earths..", "Legends"
You can beat DC for INTERNAL Story, Thought, Motives, and Conflict; and you can't beat Marvel for EXTERNAL Action, Reaction, Consequences, and Repercussions.
Don't dis either one.
