Hey, Could it work? Well look at Spidey 2099, he had Organic Shooters, it worked just fine for him. Yeah not the same character, differences in powers etc... But still, He was spiderman, very simular in many ways. it worked for him, it'll work in the movie for the real spidey. It bothered me at first, but I think its an acceptable change. Theres only so much you can pack into a movie.

I can deal with organic shooters because they make logical sense. It would have been better if it was the original idea but you take the good with the bad .

I disagree. I think the movie should stay true to the comic book character that it's based on. Also, if Spider-Man runs out of web fluid during an intense fight, that would make it harder for him. He would then be forced to think up a better plan. That is what makes an action movie exciting, giving it more replay value.

Come on guys don't knock it until you watch it. Ive been a Spidy fan my whole life, and Ive been waiting for this movie for a very long time. I read that Spidy will have the best of both worlds when it comes to shooting webs, he will have organic webs but he will need a aiming device which will allow him to shoot straight. So did Batman need a rubber suit to do the job or did chix dig the car. Spidy of all the movies will be closer to orgin than any other movie including Superman & Batman movies.

I'll watch it and give it a chance. But take Superman II for example. He was fighting 3 supervillains all equally as powerful as him. He finally realized he had no chance of defeating them that way, so he came up with an alternate plan and outsmarted them. The entire concept of that movie was based on the comic book, not drawn away from it. As far as Batman goes, they got nothing about the costume right. He couldn't even turn his head sideways because he was in a suit of armor. That's also why he was never really in any immediate danger. Because he was protected by armor. In the comic books, he relied on his instincts and fighting ability to survive. His costume was blue, gray, and yellow with a black bat and yellow oval as his insignia. In the movie, Batman's costume was all black. But I'm still going to give Spider-Man a chance.

I Think the Organic needs to be rethought Because what about all of the Little kids that are gonna be watching this and are wanting to learn about the real spidey. "Real" Spidey didnt have Organic he had fluid and when you got your fluid You Got Spiderman. Why dont you just stick to What Spidey originnally had and actually make Spiderman, Spiderman.

I have a feeling that this movie will surprise everyone. It took me a little while to accept the organic webs, I read James Cameron's script I didn't like the way it was handled there. Once I read that they decided to go with organic webs and his firing braces it all started to make sense. He can still run out of webbing, his body is making it so he can only store so much. I am waiting for the first time on the screen that Peter finds that out.
I have faith in Sam Raimi. He is an amazing director, and what could be better that having a director that's a fan of the books?

It should be noted that real spiders do not have unlimited webbing either. It would also make for some interesting character development, that being that Peter must make other more biological accomodations to his new lifestyle that would allow his body to generate the webbing as rapidly as he would need it.

The flluid issue would require some intellectual requirements from the scripting staff, (mainly the scripting supervisors, since the actual writers have already been paid and the completed script, "Put to bed" , so to speak...

This being the case...

I believe the "Fluid" requirement would make the most sense, and will most likely be the least acceptable.

This scenerio would require the current writers to have a much more extensive knowledge of the characters, and it has been my considerable experience that this town is not very interested in experience and much more interested in "connections", sorry, but true.

You still shouldn't outrule webshooters altogether. That's just stupid.

I don't like the idea of organic webs for one reason. If this is a power he gets from a spider then wouldn't the webbing come out of his butt or something like that??? I think it isn't a very well thought out idea.

Yeah, there is no possible way for a radioactive spider to give some1 the power to shoot web's out of his arms. It would completely mutate is phyiscal body, it would hav a little bit more of a effect aswell. Not to mention Spider-Man making his webshooters showed how intelligent he was, now he's lost that and u know if the movie is a success they'll give it to him in the comics, like they gave the x-men the new suits... They ruined wolverine!

Hey come on now this is the world of comics... It can't all have perfect explainations, hell they may have ruined the x-men but how'd you adapt to having laser beam eyes? They're just probably just being lazy...

Yah, it might work, but it's not Peter Parker. It's Spiderman 2099, like someone already said. Wait til the next movie to start messing with something that's been a part of the character for decades now. While people are changing him , why don't we just suggest that he have a pair of knitting needles and the uncanny knack of crocheting a giant web out of yarn to catch all of the evil doers out there?! Sorry for the attitude. But spidey is an original. To change such an important part in the story line might lead viewers not to want to see it again. Hey! It could happen. Thanx for the chance to share

I will definately give Raimi the benefit of the doubt - but I hope that he has thought long and hard about the web shooter issue.

Remember Peter is a brilliant student and chemist. One of the fascinating things about spiderman is how he combines Peter's normal human strengths (his brains and his wit) with his new found "spider strengths"

The spiderman I know has a great knowledge of science. My only fear is that the movie will get carried away with all of the spider powers (believe me-I want them to show them off for a while) and will somehow lose Peter in the mix.

My other thought is that Peter was always able to modify his webbing formulas as needed. Also with organic webbing- the possibility of mechanical failure of the web shooters eliminates some of the sense of danger. Spiders CAN shoot webs but they do not "naturally" shoot around with the accuracy of our favorite wall crawler.

I am still very positive about the movie overall. Keep up the good work!

why? i dont see a need to stay true to the comic. albiet they shouldnt change the story competely, they should have the liberty to change certian aspects. heres a very little known fact, most americans havent read the spiderman comic.

moreover, most comics are unrealistic. seriously, if you gained superpowers, would you prance around in red & blue spandex? if spidey was real, i bet he would be in a non-spandex costume that looked something like the venom costume: all black, white eyes, w/ a small icon on his chest, if that.

Man, I don't think I like this... Like others before me said, the fact that Peter Parker designed and made his own "web shooters" and webbing fluid showed he was a guy with brains. Not just some guy who was standing at the right place at the right time. The fact that his web shooters could get damaged or he could run out of webbing during a fight was a great way of making sure he doesn't just web up the bad guys from a safe distance all the time. I guess this could still happen if an aiming device is needed or his body runs outta webs.

If the intent WAS to blend classic spidey with the 2099 version, why not go all out and combine Cosmic Spider-Man into the mix? Then he can manipulate his webs before he cuts them off. AND HE'LL BE ABLE TO FLY!!!

But then that'd just be nutz, eh?

What next, he'll be completly silent during a fight and not crack jokes?

Chill little man, it's just a story. When spiderman was created, back in the day, all super heroes wore goofy clothes. I mean come on, a cape of all things. Something more to get in your way. How does (DC) do it." I said sarcasticly"
Keep it original or don't make the **** movie.

peter parker was a nerd with brains who invented the web formula and the web shooters...as a comic reader we all at one time or another wanted to know why spiderman's hands were always in a weird position while shooting out webs. the whole organic thing is retarded and takes away from the nerdy genius that peter parker is.

plus SPIDER MAN is NOT a MUTANT with organic web-shooters. HE'S NOT A MUTANT. The whole organic thing makes him seem like a mutant or something...they didn't change x-men, why change spidey? doesn't make any sense. wouldn't cost them that much to make webshooters or spend 1 minute on how he came up with the webshooters.

Please-no organic web shooters....They messed up Wolverine's height in X-Men, this would only anger me even more.

I know that Spidey has oganic shooters. But he can't control where they shoot, so he invents AIMERS.

Part of the make up of Peter Parker's character was that he, like most Stan Lee heroic creations, was hyper-intelligent. Petey is a veritable genius when it came to chemistry. This got ignored and abused over the course of the 30+ year history of the character, but at the core, Peteys intelligence was key to his character make up. I feel that giving Pete an organic/biological reason for his web-shooting takes that away from the character. Now, i understand the concept of making the character more realistic, and i personally think that Pete, in the comic, being able to invent a brand new chemical compoud while being a HS student that WORKED on the first shot, building a mechanical device for it, and then designing and sewing his own outfit with amazing skill (pun intended) is a little over the top, as most Stan Lee characters were. If i had a say in the script (and obviously, i don't :) ), i would have kept the chemical origins of the webfluid, and found some other way of having him come up with the shooters, like maybe he stole an idea from a gimmick or a gag gift or something.
Now, if in the movie, Pete IS a genius at chemistry, then i'll buy some of the Heinz green ketchup and use it to flavor of the foot i would have shoved into my face. :)

Look guys... this is the problem I have seen with every movie based on a literary work... the movie HAS to change a few aspects to get the story to you in the alloted time and then all you nit-pickers out there can do nothing more than ***** and complain because it isn't exact to what you know about the property.
First, let me state this... I am an avid comic book reader (being a penciller it kind of falls into the job description)... and to boot, I am a huge Spider-Man fan. I've rooted for Spidey since I was old enough to utter his name.
I have seen many movies based on literary works and I too have been slightly disappointed by the minute details that were left out or altered for the sake of time or story.
I have simply learned to let them go, as should you all.
I agree, organic webshooters kind threw me off and yes, Petey having to build his own webshooters would tell the audience that he is a highly intelligent kid but, I also look at it like this... it's a MOVIE, they didn't dump this on you in some continuity killing comic and then force you to live with the change... it's not within OUR normal Spidey continuity.
Think of it as an Elseworlds or What If-?
Just walk into the theater with your 32oz. Mt.Dew and your UberBag of popcorn, sit back, watch the previews then watch a celluloid Spidey kick *** in Silver Screen glory, 20ft tall and in your face for the first time in your life....
Come on... we have all waited DECADES for this, don't ruin it by tearing it apart before you even give it one chance!

I've said my piece...
Long live Sam Raimi... the man who is finally giving us what we have only dreamed about!

Another thing just popped up in my mind!! If Spidey's webs are organic, does that mean that one could find out his identity buy testing the left over strands left on buildings and rooftops?? (DNA Testing) Amigo-yo te entiendo muy bien!

ok first off i'm a big raimi fan.
i collect every marvel title every week/month!
I AM A TRUE BELIEVER!!!
BUT! this raises some questions.
YES comics are make believe.
BUT people arn't into that any more cos of science.
YES this happens when people make films of any books
BUT the trend is changing look at lord of the rings!
basicly the've changed a bit already, having web shooters that he's made is both practical and more realistic. not to mention true to spiderman.
So why change it????
for gods sake sam put it to right this is the only thing that going to make this film bad!!!!
most people can handle a costume change or a slight difference in background geez even marvel started the Ultimate series to help you out by changing the fans perspective of spiderman and still you insist on stupid organic webbing???
we can forgive the X-men costumes** come on black leather is cool**
We can forgive superman for not being as hard as he should have been.
but we cant forgive such a small and silly thing as organic webbing he might aswell be shooting it out his bottom...really.
If you do this you'll be right up there with George Lucas for messing up starwars the phantom plotline and joel schumacher for killing batman and making him a swinging 60's goofy hero.
Sort it out you muppet

lots of love

Actually they did change X-Men look at wolverine's claws not just that look at Magneto he suppose to be able to shoot electricity blast from his hands and also create a magnetic field around him.Toad has acid like spit.

What was the change in Wolverine's claws? It's been a looong time since I saw that movie but I don't remember noticing anything there... I guess I was too busy looking at the locations and identifying where in Toronto they were filmed.

I can see from both sides how you guys feel about this and maybe you're thinking too much in to it. I don't think Peter Parker is going to spend 15-25mins fooling around with his webs. It will probably be like this: okay they're organic but I can't aim too well with them by itself, so he invents aimers (webshooters) end of story. I don't think they want us to concernate oursevles with his webs

I noticed they changed Wolvies claws too, I thought I was the only one that noticed, they seemed to have little designs on the part closest to the knuckles.
