I wasn't too impressed with the look of Spidey's eyes. In the compics they have a nice rounded side going into a point. The movie costumes almost look like triangles. What do you think?

If you read any of the older comics that came out when Spider-Man was first created, you'll notice there's a stronger resemblance than you think. When he first premiered back in the 60's, the eyes didn't cover about 70% of his face. They originally were the same size as the frames on a pair of glasses. Only they were part of the mask and didn't need a nose piece or ear pieces. Come to think of it, maybe he duplicated the strength of his glasses into the eyes of his mask. I'd been collecting Spider-Man comics since I was a kid and hadn't thought of that until now. Anyway, the eyes look pretty much like the way they did when he was first created.

I think that the spidey eyes on the costume look pretty good. I also think that there should be a sort of evolution of the costume in future movies that makes the eyes more rounded. That way it does have a little of the same flow as the comic

OK, I stopped collecting the books about 3 years ago, but when I was collecting them (during the clone saga - I know... *ugh* ...but I actually liked the clone saga) they always drew Spidey with the eyes on the costume as large triangles. To me, it is an update to the drawings from way back when - they 'modernized' it...to look cooler.
A few years back, I attempted to make a Halloween costume of the Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider costume. It was OK (not really, but oh, well) and I used the large triangle design...
I think it looks cooler...and in the movie costume, it looks like they found a happy medium - large, and kind of rounded, with a slight point to the bottom curve of his eyes...
In my opinion - the costume is perfect.
Look at X-Men - did ANY of those resemble the comics? I didn't think so, I mean Wolverine didn't even wear his mask. I better shut up, I don't know much about the X-Men...!!!

I agree. I seen the costume up close, in person, on more than one stunt double on the Downey set in March. I love the design, and the darker colors they chose are perfect. As far as the eyes, they remind me of the classic John Romita Sr. style.
One other thing of interest, before they began shooting a scene, one person would "spray" the Spidey costume down with some sort of a "conditioner". I could only assume that this would make the camera pick up light and reflection in a particular way off the raised web design on the costume.
