im a huge spiderman fan but i was dissapointed in it because tobey mcguirey is not spider man they picked the wrong person to play him and ended up being a stupid movie because they didnt chose the right person to play the part and plus the webing out of his wrists was stupid to!!! i am looking forward to the second one because i like the vilian better then the green goblin!

I disagree Terminator3,....I think Tobey was an ideal Peter Parker,......I do however think the story was poorly written and the editing needed work. I especially think making the goblin look like a Power Ranger villian was completely off base ! They chose Williem Dafoe to play him and that was outstanding. Dafoe is a great actor for villianous roles, ranking up there with Christopher Walken. When they covered his face with that helmet I was a little dissapointed. As for the webbing from his wrists,...granted as a kid I thought Peter's construction of web shooters was cool,...but you have to think about it,....a 16 year old teen creates a molecular adhesive in his basement laboratory, where huge 3m corporations couldn't even come close to making it, is a bit unrealistic. The only acting choice I thought was bad was casting Kirsten Dunst as M.J., I felt that was wrong for the character she was portraying. Or trying to portray. Anyway,...my hopes still remain very high for Spider-man 2, and please.....if you are the fan you say you are....join me and a few others to boycott the possibility of Sony and Raimi having Spidey lose his powers during the next film. That absolutely CAN'T happen !!
'Nuff said !!

The key is listening to what the fans WANT and DON'T WANT.
That's why I made the "What Improvements Do You Want To See In Spider-Man 2" topic.

If Sony and Raimi listen to what the majority of fans want, they won't have a problem...ignore us...and they will. Just look at what happened to the Superman and Batman sequels, when Warner Bros. ignored the fans--flop after flop.

ok kaykaw... why dont we all get together and write the script as well? then sony (or the SCREENWRITER) will not feel presured at all. we might as well direct it, and recast... wouldnt we all be happy THEN?

Hey, all I'm saying is that if Warner Bros. had listened to what the fans wanted for Superman and Batman sequels...there would be 4 "HIT" Batman and Superman movies. Because they ignored their fanbases, they ended up with movies that no one supported. ;)

are you sure they ignored them? they gave them Robin, they gave them Batgirl, they gave them more action, and they gave them more of the classic villains (2 per movie even!) and thats not all... heck they even gave the fans GEORGE CLOONEY!
if anything i think they listened to what the audience wanted too much.
now, what i am saying is this: we trusted sam and sony and everyone who made the Spider-Man movie. and it turned out great! if broke so many box office records. marvel got more spidey sales, and more spidey fans (even women liked the Spider-Man movie.) sam and sony achieved so much on their own (he even went agains what fans wanted ie webshooters, and Spider-Man was still a great movie) they even changed the Green Goblin storyline (my FAVORITE villain!) and still the movie turned out great! greater than i even imagined!
if that isnt enough for you (any of you) to trust sam and sony to make a good spidey flick... i dont know WHAT is!

No one ask for 2 villains, no one ask for Batgirl, more action/classic villains are a no-brainer, but the delivery of them was horrible, something fans didn't want. Perhaps they ask for Robin, but they didn't want a clown fest of campiness, and girls wanted George Clooney to play Batman, just as they would want Brad Pitt to play him--Hello, Bats fanbase is at least 85% guys. Most fans of Batman wanted the dark brooding and mysterious and serious tone Batman, that they've come to know over the decades, with a cast that fit their roles. They still want that today. Instead, they were giving some of the worst movies ever made. They had multiple chances to make some **** good sequels...but they did it without listening to what fans were saying, on how to improve the films. So they got what they deserve...FLOPS.

I trust Sam Raimi/Sony & Co., I think most people (Spider-Man fans) do. But that doesn't that mean that fans shouldn't voice their opinions, on what they would and would not want to see, to better a movie that they like or love. Every fanbase does this, it's nothing new. That's the purpose of Sony having this message board, so they can see what the fans think--and find ways to improve on future Spidey films.;)

I also agree. And I think that Toby is a great Peter Parker.

I think Tobey Maguire was a perfect person to play Spiderman and i dont think they could have found a better person either. And if you dont like the fact the he's Spiderman than why are you on this web site when its for the movie?? I was actually kinda suprised when i found out that the actor that played in Pleasentville was gonna be Spiderman but when i saw the movie i knew why they put him in there. And i dont think its right when people say they could've put someone better in the movie and their wrong when they say that becaue Tobey played Spiderman really good.
