to list venom and carnage seperately is nuts. For a really awesome sequel, you'd need both. Venom is responsible for carnage's existence. They go hand in hand like a burger and fries.

How come no-one seems to want the King Pin? I mean, he's a good, ongoing character, and he's the reason behind a few other villains and storylines.

I reckon that having Venom and Carnage listed separately isn't insane, 'cos then you can have Venom, who I personally reckon kix arse, and later have Carnage put in. Can you imagine the excellent screenshots you'd get for Venom or Carnage?

As to your Kingpin question.....I honestly believe he'd be a Daredevil villain as apposed to Spider man. I've always read both comics and although the Kingpin was in storylines of ASM.........he ought to be in Daredevil when they make the film.....just my thought on the matter.

I would agree that having venom and carnage separate would be stupid. What they should do is get venom in first so we understand what a symbiote is THEN get carnage in , in some elaborate way and make them team together!

I just hope that they do not overdo it with too many new characters (villians or allies) per sequel. This has been done too often in other comic-inspired movies (such as the Batman movies). I guess writers tend to feel as though they need to have several villans at once, which truly detracts from characterization and often makes the film seem too fragmented. For example, I do agree that Venom and Carnage go hand in hand... But think they should focus on Venom in the second film (and of coruse the growing relationship of Peter and MJ) and then maybe in the fourth film (we all know there will be multiple sequels) bring Venom back and introduce Carnage.

Of course I'd love to see Venom in a Spider-Man sequel...however...like others have said, there is just TOO MUCH history surrounding Venom to make this possible. One thing that has truly bothered me with the recent movies based on comics is "Theatrical Licensing". I'm all about staying true to the actual comic storylines...and I'm sure they would kill any sort of plot trying to explain "Secret Wars".
Besides...with today's computer animation, can you image how cool Doc Oc's tentacles would be?

it's true. Venom should not be apart from Carnage! But I think, it would be good to have Venom only on the next sequel, and then in the end of the movie we shall see Carnage born, and on the 3rd movie we shall have Carnage as the Villain!

Doc Ock should be the main villain of the second movie, both timeline- and storywise! In addition to him, we should be introduced to the alien symbiote as Peter's new suit, and the second villain of the movie. Imagine Spidey battling Doc Ock, and at the same time struggling with his own suit, all beautifully rendered in full CGI!
And, of course, this would call for Venom in movie #3!

If we are going to play time line, I would like to see Kraven or Tombstone chase after Spidey... Spiderman is tracking down Tombstone's terror thru out the city and catches the attention of Kraven...

I think that Doc Ock should be the next villan. It would be cool to have Venom and Carnage but how would you intergrate them into the real world when they are trying to keep it as real as possiable?

I think that it's too soon to see venom or carnage . Don't get me wrong-Venom is my favorite spidey adversary-but I'd like to see Doc Ock in the next Spidey Film. I think that the villains that have tenure should appear before Venom. Bring on the "Old School" Villains!!

Personally, I think that a sequel with Venom and Carnage would be great.Venom is my favorite villain and always will be. But think about this: the special effects for the symbiote would cost thousands. And considering how long it took them to make this one, I think we should just wait until #1 comes out then talk about a sequel.

Sorry to be pessimistic but I think if there ae going to be sequals the there'll probably only be two, for some reason I think (like X-men is going to be) that it will be a Spider-man trilogy, and for this reason I don't think we'll see Venom or Carnage. I'm not saying I don't want to, it would rule, but if Sam Raimi is following the Spider-man story chronologically then we won't see Venom or Carnage.

OK, I rarely post, but this is definitly worth supporting:
(IMHO) The sequel needs to follow the time line of the comic book, sure I love Venom and Carnage as much as the next guy (and imagining those CGI tendrils just makes me drool :P~ ) But in order to follow timeline "procedures" we need to have one of the older villians in the first sequel, one of those villains who has been a thorn in ol' Spideys side for a long time (in the comic books) and then introduce the Symbiote in that sequel. Of course, in order to do it right, they'd have to incorporate the secret wars, but they can use thier theatrical licencing instead, I'd reather not see another terrible Secret Wars attempt like in the Spidey anim. series. Oh yeah, and you cant cram too many cameos into a movie, seriously two is the most cameos you should ever have in a single movie, and even that must be done with care. In the third sequel (if there is one) the movie should start with spidey removing the symbiote, intro venom as the main villain, and then throw in carnage as an extra challange toward the end of the movie, so they is some sort of closure with the venom conflict. So anyways, that my humble opinon albeit a long one long... Till next time, make mine Marvel!

I am new to the site. Some very cool discussion going on, I've been a Spider-man fan all my life. I think it should be a toss-up between Doc Ock ( lots of history) or Mysterio (I like the idea of a disgruntled special effects person gone bad). Venom and Carnage are cool too but we must save something for Spider-Man 3 perhaps?

Yes Venom and Carnage are cool. But introducing both in the same movie would be overkill and just turn the movie into "Batman and Robin" Remember that movie had 3 villians? Introduce Venom in one movie. Let everybody know how evil and cool he is, then introduce Carnage later on. Because let's face it, they can't do Secret Wars and finding another way will take time. My suggestion: let Spidey fight Doc Ock in his secret lab, destroy it, and let the chemicals and experiments merge into the symbiote. Unless you want this movie to be 5 freakin hours, they can't introduce the symbiote, Eddie Brock, Venom, Cletus Kassidy, and Carnage all in one movie. Plus by spreading it out, you can truely add character growth. And for all the people saying Venom and Carnage must be seen together....how long was Venom along before Carnage? Carnage is great yes, but he's always going to the pretender to the throne. And on the Kingpin thing....he's a daredevil problem now. He's been DD's problem for ages. Let it go and just hope for DD and Spidey team up eventually. Of course after the original DD movie comes out.

I think having spidey in the black suit would be great for the sequel. maybe they could work it that after JJJ's son comes back from space, spidey tries to save the shuttle from crashing, and gets sticky black **** all over his costume. He could go cavorting around as symbiote spidey for awhile, then find out that the suit is a serious health hazard. Enter venom. Spidey could definetly use some help battling venom, so another hero could be introduced. Someone who dies in the end so they wouldn't have to be brought back for the next sequel (If there is one). maybe black cat or dare devil. you wouldn't be able to fit carnage and venom's backgrounds both into one movie and still make it good, however, Cletus Casady's insane voice would make a good touch.

Another idea could be the suit from the newest animated series where it's all designed with nanotechnology. it'd be a stupid plot line but it would look amazing.

On another note, why is everybody whining about the specifics such as the chronological order of the spider-man story? The movie is being made for mass-consumption, not just for the hardcore fans. the point in making movies (apart from making money) is to give huge audiences something they like. it's all calculated to match with market research. maybe MJ having blue eyes instead of green has some effect on the audience. it could be the same thing with the organic web-shooters. It might have been predicted that the majority of the audience would like the story line better if the spider were genetically altered instead of radioactive. There are going to be millions of people who see this movie. you can't only think of yourselves.

I heard from Kristen Dunst herself that Doctor Oc. and the Lizard doctor will be in the next two films, unless they change it of cource. I hope they put Venom in there! Venom is a real super villain.

To take a few steps back, I have an idea on how to fit the whole story of Venom into a sequel.
In the comics, the symbiote traveled to Earth in the Beyonder's spaceship. If Sony makes a Fantastic Four movie, they could end the movie showing the symbiote slip out of the Beyonder's spaceship. Then they could begin a Spidey sequel with the ending from the FF movie. I like my idea because it illustrates some of the continuity that existed between comic book series in the Marvel Universe.
Just an idea.

i think if they put venom in the 2nd movie. they should like in the end of the movie, they should like show a piece of venom grow in to carnage , and then right at the end it attaches it self to Kassidy. and show it talking over his body and and smiling. and the end. that sounds.. if they ever diid that in a spider-man movie.

Why not make a movie out of the Maximum Carnage series? It could be like a five hour movie or somethin'. But the writers would have to come up with a way to introduce the symbiote and stuff, but other than that I think it would be a hit!
