Carnage and Venom are the best things that happened to spider-man ( as well as Symbiote Spidey, Spidey Carnage and Monster Ock as seen on the spider-man game) So... WWWWWHHHHHYYYYYY?!?!?!?[/quote]

Since this is the first Spidey movie, they need to start out with a classic villian like Green Goblin. In order to bring out Venom, Carnage et al, then they need to introduce Spiderman's alien suit. But before they get to THAT, they need to showcase Spidey's classic red and blues. So that is what this movie is all about: an intro into the extensive and really cool history of Spiderman. If Fate is so kind, then we will see highlights of the history in sequels to come.

Green Goblin is no Classic villan Dr. Octopus, Rino, and Scorpion are the oldest. Why not Them then.
Or Shocker. That would be cool

It is simply because The Green Goblin is the most highly recognized Spidey villian. Simply put, you ask 100 normal people on the street to name a Spider-man villain, the majority will most likely say the Goblin. You ask the fanboys, it's going to be Venom.

Monster Ock...what the hell are you talking about?
"Green Goblin is no Classic".......are you delirious?
He first appeared in Amazing Spidey #14....
He was the 13th SuperVillian type character he fought and 1 of the first 7 MAJOR Villians that are still pretty much around. AND he was BEFORE Rhino and Scorpion AND Shocker.
I think that classifies him as a classic.
