There are a few things that I would like to see Spider-Man do in the comicbooks, Peter starts out creating webshooters, which is awesome, but how come along the lines he never developed new weapons for himself, I know Ben Reilly made impact webbing and that's really cool, do more stuff like that. Also if Peter got into taking some sort of martial art to add more technique to his fighting in addition to relying on his super speed, agility, and strength.

I guess he really has kind of developed his own style of fighting. I mean, martial arts was developed for people of ordinary strength and agility. Spider-man can bend in all different sorts of ways. I did read a comic, though, where a martial arts dude taught him some stuff. It was some time this year.

it was ultimate team-up featuring spider-man and shang-chi:master of kung fu. i too have thought it would be cool to see spidey learn some kind of martial arts. i think they should incorporate a story where spidey gets his ***** handed to him by someone like ezekial, who has identical powers, but who happens to be a bad-***** fighter anyway. have Daredevil come in and find spidey doubled over in the trash. spidey tells DD what happened and asks DD to show him some moves. spidey then begins his training, which is overseen by a very irate DD who has almost had it with peter's lackadaisical attitude and finally tells peter; "hey, you're going to learn this or the next time you fight this guy, you're going to be killed and MJ is going to be a widow. then you have a set-up for the most awesome kung-fu battle in history!!!:D

shinlyle that's not a bad idea for a story line, but I don't know if DD is the right guy to teach him, someone like Iron Fist would probably be better even though I think he's a little hokey, Spider-man did bring up to Iron Fist in the Maximum Carnage series that it'd be cool if he knew some martial arts.

What if Iron Fist was his sensei and Daredevil was his sparring partner?
Or, what if Spidey's sensei was someone new and he had a whole line-up of sparring partners including The Iron Fist And Matt?
There are lots of cool things that could be done with this.:D

I like the idea of the sparring partner, but don't you think Spidey could take out Daredevil and Iron Fist now without the use of any martial arts technique? I think he could, so if he learned martial arts too, he'd be wiping the floor with a lot of guys. This idea is quickly becoming very interesting...let's see where else we could go with it.

Daredevil might get him. I'd say that out of every ten fights, Matt would win at least three.

Spidey is far too strong for Daredevil.
Spider-Man has developed his own unigue fighting technique over the years. I guess you could say he has his own unique brand of martial arts. Spidey can jump twice as high as the best martial artist, and move twice as fast. He can hit with an array of fast athletic punches and kicks, just as well as any martial artist, if not better. He has years of fighting experience.
It takes years of constant training to learn a martial art, Spidey doesn't have that time. Learning Kong Fu isn't what the chracter of Spidey is about.

I've read in some comic books that Spider-Man has reflexes 9 times faster than an ordinary person...and he can lift 10 tons, can jump 50 feet, and has spider sense on top of that, I think that Daredevil would be in trouble against Spidey.

Is there any visible difference in comic books purchased at a comic book store opposed to recieving them by subscription in the mail?
Also, does Marvel ever put in special items for subsribers? If so do you think they will put anything in Amazing Spider-man #500 for subscribers?

Diffenently agree that Spidey could beat Daredevil, but he would give old webb head a hard time.

People don't think about this too often, but if all of Matt's sensory inputs have been amplified, than so have his outputs. Consider his proprioceptive and vestibular senses.
While the speed of the synaptic connections between Spider-man's afferents and efferents may be increased, the sensitivity of Murdock's intrafusal nuclear bag and chain fibers to changing conditions has been increased, giving him a greater ability to "roll with the punch". Which is better? Spidey can move very quickly, but Daredevil may still prove harder to knock down and do damage to, when contact is made.
I have seen Spidey struggle with normal men before, consider the first time he tried to hit "Ox". I still give Matt 3 out of 10 fights in one on one combat with Pete.

Hey calculator2006, there usually is a difference, instead of a UPC code a lot of times subscription comics have "Direct Edition" on them, neither one of them affects the value of the comic.

I thought there was a small difference, but I did not know for sure.
