Here we go. When you think Superhero you automatically think of a male right? Both in movies and in comic books the Superheroines take a back seat. Why is this?
What is missing from the characters of female Super Crime Fighters that gets them snubbed by the masses?
What would SpiderMan do if he were a woman? What would drive her? Would you love She-Spidey as much?
Lets hear your thoughts.
This was in honor of my 200th post. It sure took me long enough.

Ok so I got 4 votes so far but no opinions. Why??
Well ok 1 opinion, but it's not exactly what I was looking for

If there were to be more superheroines besides Wonderwoman, I think it should be PMS girl from mystery men. Maybe it's just me, but I think that would be hilarious. I still probably wouldn't watch it though.
IMO it's that the female characters were geared towards T & A even at the cost of the story. Nevermind her powers, check those out! It's that kind of thinking without the intelligent foundation of a backstory to support the character to be around any longer than the fad would last. I just picked up Emma Frost(White Queen mini-series) and I liked it. I has a good story to me and interesting supporting characters. Okay, the cover is T & A but the story isn't. I was just talking to someone about the comic and he told me it sucked because it wasn't a skimpy dressed W Queen running around. If there was as much tact put in the female characters as the males you'd see the difference. Maybe this is the turning point. Again just my opinion.

I think the only thing that's keeping a female hero from really breaking out, is a really ground breaking idea...of course she'll probably be drawn really sexy and stuff, but hey all male heros are very well muscled too, that's a male equivalent is it not?
Absolutely. I'm just reminded of the T & A era of comics. Looking sexy is a given, it just shouldn't be the main plot of the story.

i think that a good girl super-hero, would be a lot like peter. geeky in their normal life, more sexy in their super-hero life.
like someone dropped a bomb.
BAMM!!!!!!

Are you a fan of The Gap Band qweet?
The whole problem I see is that we as a society tend to objectify beautiful women. Men want to be with them, women want to be them. We have no problem with women providing for our needs. But when it comes to being protected by a woman we reject the idea.
So in the male ratio that buys comics the female main characters don't have a chance to shine because partly because the guys don't want to read about a heroine protecting them? Interesting...Supergirl was just cancelled but that could have been shoddy storytelling. Then again,it was due to low sales... Maybe it's cause men can't completely relate to a comic with a female character cause they don't want to read about the personal relationship side unless it's told from a male perspective.

DanceGirl! She dances so badly that she paralyzes her opponents for a split second. That is just long enough for her to use her superspeed to handcuff them. Her only weakness is running out of batteries on her boombox.

As far as female superhero's their are many. Spider-girl, Electra, etc.
My favorite is Rogue, and I refuse to admit that proves your point. It may, but I refuse to admit it.
I honestly hope I'm wrong Tman.:)
