The word "miserly" was correct in that posting...What Vailsy was trying to say was that the Sweepstakes was being a 'miser' by only allowing U.S. residents to join...
I just LOVE when people try to put others down about their internet spelling or lack of intelligence, and they themselves are actually completely wrong... hee hee

Those who live in australia will wait 6 months past the may 2002 release date to see this film. Is it a plot against all non-Amerikans ?

Actually it has nothing to do with people in the US being miserly (the US still outspends on foreign aid any country on the planet)...
There are laws regarding the legality of contests from state to state within the US and hence many contests in the US won't even cross some state lines. Naturally the laws to allow goods, etc., from one country to another are even more complicated.
It's a sad truth... but a reality - to have an international sweepstakes would require more legal fees than any prize you could imagine just to pay off enough lawyers to check into the laws of every nation in the world.

Once again, it's economics - not personal prejudice against anyone or anyplace.
You have "X" number of prints of a movie. Theatres pay to get top grossing movies for "Y" dollars. To insure the theatre doesn't lose money the contract with the theatres garrantees "Z" number of weeks to show that film.
So why don't they make more prints of the movie? Same reason they don't just go down to the treasury and print up more money when a country needs more cash. It makes the value of the money worthless.
