I read this on the Spider-Man Hype web site:
More About Eddie Brock's Scene
Monday, April 30, 2001 9:56 CDT
Coming Attractions is reporting that Eddie Brock is in the movie. A scooper for the site says that Richard C. Everbeck will play the character, who has lines with his small run in with Parker at the Daily Bugle offices.
Apparently the scene with Dr. Curt Connors is no longer in the film. The source says that the scene had Parker as a paid intern for Connors, but was let go due to his tardiness. Peter Parker does mention that he was fired by Connors (page 61, sc. E67), however.
Great build-up for an appearance by Venom in future sequels. Thanks to 'Anonymous' for the heads up.

I THINK VINCE VAUGHN OF PSYCHO FAME WOULD MAKE A GREAT EDDIE BROCK. HE'S GOT THE LOOK, AND HE SEEMS A LITTLE CRAZY (IF YOU'VE READ THE NEWS IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS.

You better think about hanging some mechanical arms on one of Hollywoods finest.

Yeah! I love Venom, but you should all flush the pipe dreams of him being an a sequel. All the villians for future sequels should come from the classic rogues gallery.

Are you joking me, Dolph Lundgren? Man, that guy's acting is almost as stale as his accent! For my money, it would definitely have to be Arnold, for just the sheer muscle. I mean, is the guy really going to have to act a whole lot? No. All you need is someone with the physical characteristics of a Venom. Dolph is just too skinny. Yep. Too skinny and too tall. MAybe a professional wrestler is better suited for the role. But that's just me.

I'm not saying he doesn't have muscle, that much is obvious. But my point is that Eddie Brock has ginormous muscles, as where Dolph does not. Honestly, Brock really needs to have huge muscles to look the part as he was portrayed in the comic book. Dolph simply doesn'y have the muscle necessary. And you're right, Arnold would sound kinda funny, but that's okay. I mean, all you need is a big guy, he would only have to really act when he's not in costume, so to speak. When he is venom, you could just manipulate his voice with some sound effects or something along those lines.

the rock and triple not a bad idea...but they would have to fight for the part..
There is one guy I think would pass as a suitable Venom.Bill Goldberg.Hey, he can act too, after all-- he is a wrestler.
kaiken
07-09-2001, 05:39 PM
true but do you think he can beat up the rock and triple h
I think Bill Goldberg has a great physique for the role of Eddie Brock. Plus .. he is a wrestler so we know he can act!(hahaha)
Symbiote_Venom
07-10-2001, 07:46 PM
Triple H would rule as Eddie Brock, they look so similar. Jim Carrey could play Cletus Cassidy (Carnage)! Although it could be a bit of a stretch for him, he was the Riddler in Batman Forever, who is also a complete maniac. Carnage and Venom would have to be computer animated to get their full effect on the big screen.

I Do realize you guys are just having fun at this point tossing names around, but from your options, The best i've seen is Woody, and more likely Vince Vaughn. (He WAS that Looney from 'The Cell', right? Someone please confirm/deny) And here's why;
Yes, Venom / Brock is Physically impressive, but that was only half of his character. He was, almost litteraly the 'nightmare' version of spidey brought to life, (so to speak) .
Not just a spidey gone bad, but not exactly the 'anti-thesis' either. He was sort of spidey with a dark twist at his core, which extended to everything he did, and was focused on our hero.
Sure, you can picture Arnie or Dolph helping the elderly cross the strret before/after going five rounds with spidey, But can you see either of them doing a rapid finger walk, knees to chin , singing; " happyHAPPY day,SPIDERmans going to DIii-iiIE!"
-Well?

wow you guys repeat your selves more than i do i see what roundeye was saying..maan
first of all dolph is not the good choice neither is arnold. arnold has softened up. my personal choice would either be Vin Diesel, for the fact that he is a new face and a decent physique, or vincent D'onofrio, he has the acting shills to really pull off the character, as for muscle actors hit the gym and for the actual venom in costume that is cgi anyway

Vin Diesel is perfect ,,,

Dulf Lungun, or how ever you spell his name couldnt be venom, cause he already was a marvel character in the classic PUNISHER. A great film for all those Marvel fans. I read some where a while ago, there might be a punisher sequal as well, starring Dulf. He will break you.

Daulp laudgren, Arnold, Woody as Venom??
No No No a thousand times no first of all
there way to old and can't act worth a dime
unlike what some people think Venom
is not all brute strength and muscle's he is
rage fustration twisted by the symbiote
Eddie will have to played by an actor who
can go from tom hanks to darth maul in a blink
of eye.

Okay...I have to say that......
Dolph Lundgren: Couldn't act t****d if you crammed him in a 3 foot by 3 foot box....He SUCKS!!!
Woody Harrelson: That was a joke.....Right...?
My pick for Venom's alter ego: Triple H from hte WWF...(if you could get him to cut his hair) He's got the muscle, the intensety, and the capability to act out "rage" (yes I said act which again is where Dolph Lundgren gets canned right away) better than most actors in Hollywood today IMHO....

I think Hank Azaria should play Eddie Brock, and voice a CGI Venom. He did the voice for them in the cartoon, and he's a good actor. Eddie doesn't have to be some big buff guy, he gets buff because of the symbiote. That's my vote. Please no more wrestlers as actors, they're not very good.

noooooooooo pritty boys for venom he can be an ok looken guy but noooooo i mean no PRITTY BOYS.AND BE SIDES JAMES VANDER BEEK IS TO SMALL you need some one who can act crazy and some times nice and beside im sticking to my guns triple h all the way and he dont need to cut his hair eddie did grow it out in venoms comic book story i forgot the name of it it was like a 4 part story
Listen...ALL OF YOU. VENOM IS NOT GOING TO APPEAR IN THIS FILM OR THE SEQUAL...ITS MUCH TOO EARLY FOR HIM AS OF YET!!! PLEASE NO MORE TALK ABOUT VENOM IN THIS FILM OR THE NEXT ONE OR THE 3RD ONE OR THE 4TH ONE FOR THAT MATTER IT WOULD STILL BE TOO EARLY FOR HIM!!! You would have to go through the Rhino, Electro, Shocker, Doc Octopus, the Sandman, the Vulture, Mysterio, possibly the Lizard, and many others. Back to the topic, Arnold would be bad for the part because of his accent and his age, Dolph would just be plain *** awful! The Rock...well maybe, however Eddie Brock isnt African American nor does he look like he is and dont even try saying that the rock isnt Black because he is, even if he's multi-racial he still looks and has african american features. Now being its a movie and the Rock is popular it could probably be pulled off (hell the guy who played "Terry" in Spawn was white even though in the comics he's black) anything is possible. Eddie Brock has a very good muscular athletic shape to him but HE IS NOT THE SIZE NOR DOES HE HAVE THE MUSCULAR FORM OF VENOM! Venom is the end result of when the symbiote and Eddie Brock combine together and this is what gives Venom his huge muscle appearance and size...PERIOD! Technically speaking if they wanted to do Venom justice he would have to be computer generated (being what he can do with his face and body and all that jazz). Now Eddie on the other hand, if they bring him into this movie or the sequal that would be fine (not accurate I think, but passible) and the actor should be played by someone white in their early or mid 20's and have a grood muscular and athletic build too them (I'm thinking that guy who played in "Pitch Black" and "The Fast & The Furious") just give them a crew cut a varsity looking jacket put a camera around their neck and your good to go...PEACE!
And Woody would be a bad choice as well (somone said Triple H, yes he would be good if he cut his hair but I doubt Hollywood would pick him "maybe the Rock could put in a good word for him" :LOL)

07-25-2001, 06:14 AM
Roundeye... i also agree on Maurie Povich! Good call...
He's NOT Somoan. Somoan?...SoFuc*nmo an ...What are you smokin?, and do you have anymore? If you honestly believe The Rock is Somoan from the isle of Somoa...you need to start doing less or none of whatever it is your on.
Somoan...wow...ooooookayyyy.
Listen. If Eddie Brock appears in this film that would be okay (not accurate I believe but still workable) however Venom WILL NOT BE MAKING ANY APPEARANCES IN THE FILM...ITS WAY TOO EARLY FOR VENOM! Arnold would not make a good Eddie due to his accent and his age. Dolph would be *** awful...PERIOD! True, Eddie Brock is very muscular and has a good build on him, however when he combines with the symbiote to become Venom he becomes bigger and more muscular! All they have to do is get someone who is in their early or mid 20's and make sure he has a strong muscular build to him (athletic and in shape) and give em a crew cut and you've got Eddie Brock. As far as Venom, he would have to be done by a computer being what he can do with his face and body and all that jazz.

My best pick for Eddie Brock is on Triple H. I don't even remember Dolph Lungdren's last film. And I like the Rock but he's totally wrong for the part to play Eddie. Just my opinion.

No way!!
The casting agent should get a beefed up guy fresh out of acting school.
To many well known actors in a film I am hoping will be really good is a bad thing.
I am not sure as to who is playing Peter Parker, but I don't mind if he is famous or not, as long as he can carry the role, because he is the one we will be focused on.
pack93
08-16-2001, 11:01 AM
OK, this will sound a little crazy, but eddie brock was
an olympic class athlete not a muscle bound steroid
popper. From what I have seen, Eddie Brock should
have a build more like a light heavyweight boxer. The
ability to play anger is a must. You are all gonna laugh
at this, but I think it will work. Mark Wahlberg. Go see
Planet of the Apes. He could pull it off.
As for Venom. I think the character translates better
to screen than Doc Oc. A film that came out a few
years back called Terminator II: Judgement Day gave a
little peak of what the Venom effects would look like.
They will be much better with today's tech. I think Venom
will sell more tickets and thus will be the next villian. Money
overrides traditional views most of the time.
But Hey, Arnold may not be a good venom, but he has the
Doc Oc accent down pat. Gould work!
Mark Walburg?!... As VENOM!?!... your right, I'm still laughing! :LOL
And as for Venom being in Part 2, read my post "Please... Enough With Venom and Carnage Already!"... unless the DENIAL your in is deeper than the Pacific Ocean.
(Until the day that Venom will be in the 2nd Spider-Man Movie... Make Mine MARVEL!)... Mark Walburg as Eddie Brock/Venom... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... Mmmmm??, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!.... Okay I'm fine now... Uh Oh... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Howie Long as Eddie Brock/Venom.
He's a regular Mr. Nice guy --but get him on your bad side and you could find yourself in whole world of hurt (its always the quiet ones).
He's not as dated as Arnold and he ain't tall and thinned out like Vince Vaugh (what was the thought process in that?).
pack93
08-20-2001, 10:41 AM
Yeah, Howie was one of my favorites, too.
You have to be able to be mean and psychotic
to be an all-pro defensive end for the Raiders!
Much better than those wrestling clods!
What about Kevin Smith? He played Ares on
the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys TV series.
Alls you have to do is scroll up to the top (just a bit) and read the post that User Name: "Bricks" left.
Now HE WOULD MAKE A GREAT Venom/Eddie Brock!

thesaintyz
08-26-2001, 03:14 PM
How about someone like Goldberg? He was in that one universal soldier movie. Sure, his acting is not awesome but he fits the bill for the size issue. If you look in the comic books, Venom generally is a few feet taller and obviously much thicker. Goldberg would stand a few feet above Tobey Maguire and is obviously much thicker.
The choice for Eddie Brock/Venom would have to be someone who could ACT (this leaves "Goldberg" OUT) & have the proper build & the right "look", those THREE ingrediants would be HIGHLY IMPORTANT.
Heres a way to make it simple: Bad Actor (acting) + Good body build + Right Look = NO Venom/Eddie Brock.
Good Actor (acting) + Bad Body Build + Right Look = NO Venom/Eddie Brock.
Bad Actor (acting) + Bad Body Build + Bad Look = NO Venom/Eddie Brock.
Good Actor (acting + Good Body Build + Right Look= Good Venom/Eddie Brock.
Now kiddies, lets see what you've learned.
Heres a example: Vince Diesel (as seen in; "The Fast & The Furious" & "Pitch Black")
He is a #1) Good actor (acting), #2) He has a Good Body Build, #3) He has the Right Look. Therefore he would make a.... anyone, anyone... THATS RIGHT!.... A GOOD Venom/Eddie Brock!!!!!
See That wasn't SO hard... Now was it? Okay, now you try. *hehe*

08-27-2001, 02:32 PM
i can't see Arnold as venom, doc ock or the rhino maybe but as for a good eddie brock/venom they need someone who can have his attitude and personality as well as the body build. i think brendan fraser would be a good canidate for eddie/venom he has a pretty good stature and is a good actor.

Sorry to put in my useless 2 cents, but, Myro, not to burst your "holier-than-thou" attitude, but, the Rock IS Samoan. He is also African American (though not that much). Please, before you must reply to this (as we all know you will), why don't you go to a bookstore, find the Rock's autobiograpghy, flip to the pictures ( You like pictures, don't you?) and find the one of him and his dad. His dad is dressed in typical Samoan garb. And, if you're still not convinced, read it. I have. Oh, qwenstacy was right. good call there. And yeesh man, lighten up. This site is NOT for just you. (surprised?) We all have an opinion. So if you will, let them say what they want. Just, for future reference, get your facts straight.

OK, let's look over the guidelines, shall we?
We'd need someone with previous action experience playing a badass. Someone muscular but not too much as to look ****py swinging through the city. Someone that can seem nice but with a sinister side. And, above all else, we NEED someone who will most likely work cheap.

10-15-2001, 06:04 PM
ok guys THINK... first there is a budget so no big actor is going to make it, second yeah goldberg is big but eddie was a reporter not some wrestler or body builder he just happened to be a big framed guy who started working out when he figured out that the suit took his physical strength and magnified it so then he started working out like crazy. now carnage was the opposite, his suit fed off the guys mental instability and the guy was a freak so the suit magnified it, thats why he seemed stronger then venom even though he was a smaller guy. so whoever plays him ( if it ever happened) would half to be a smaller and very psycotic. and no vince vaughn wasn't in the cell that was vicent d'onofrio.
warangel
10-15-2001, 06:12 PM
hey I never thought of howie long. he could not only pull it off physically but he can hold a crew cut really well too, I would have to say either him or vin would be good and its a no brainer that the actual venom would be CGI Duh! of course a good back up to those guys would be that kid that was bud on married with children. The Rock is not Samoan but the people in his extended family, including cousins Rikishi Fatu and Yokozuna, are.
The Rock's father, Rocky Johnson, befriended many people during his wrestling career. In doing so, he met High Chief Peter Miavia's daughter and hooked up. Doing so brought a wide range of family through both association and relation.
Thought I should inform the non-smarts out there.

First of all : SHUT UP ABOUT THE ROCK AND HIS FAMILY TREE, if you want to argue about his heritige then go to one of the million fan sites.
Second : This is an EXCELLENT topic (the casting of Venom) because I have been debating this for YEARS now. So, let me vent.....
My first impression was Dulf Lundgren because I recall him looking kinda like Brock and remembered him in Universal Soldier. Then, someone made the great point that he played Punisher already..... and correct me if im worng, but didnt he also play HE-MAN in the Masters of the Universe movie ?HAHAHA, Ok.... forget him !
Second was Arnold just because of his starure, and I figured he could look like Eddie.... but he played Mr.Freeze and well... he's a bit too poular for the role i think.... plus, the accent.... yup... forget him.
Now.... VINCE VAUGHN.... great idea (but ironically enough, I originally wished him to play PETER PARKER....haha - really), he would have to buff up, but he would work. Remember that Venom will be marvelous CGI so, dosent matter on the actors original size really.... I imagine the real actor will be the Symbiote/effects anyhow ! Much like Spawns almost living cape in the film. Plus Vince can play that nice gentle guy one second, then vicious killer the next !
Forget the Rock and Vin Deisel cause they are BOTH TOO DARK (in skin tone).... and well, they just dont fit Brock.
Now HHH is a very likey candidate cause he is the only guy mentioned that REALLY LOOKS LIKE EDDIE (Face wise, and body!!!). Besides, the long hair could be a cool new feature, would tie in well with the morphing symbiote !
Now for Carnage (cause if venom is in a spidey movie eventually, so is he) :
1- NICHOLAS CAGE (PERFECT.... although he was supposed to play Green Goblin... hehehe)
2- Jim Carrey (He could do it for sure, imagine an evil and insane Jim that we've never seen)
3-Chris Kattan (SNL.... no, he'd make a better Nightcrawler)
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS MUCH !
Keep the posts going ! -Scapegrace-
P.S. That post about Maury Povich as Venom was the funniest thing I have seen all day !!! (I am still laughing - thank you, really)

How about this:Maury Povich as Ben Urich? In either Spider-Man or Daredevil. Heck, even George Segal would be a good Ben Urich.

Venom should be played by....The Rock! He's got the build. And isn't Venom an over the top Anti-Spider-Man? There you go. He's pretty over the top too.
