Man,that is nuts. I'll stick with my beat up copy. I mean you pay that much for it and then what?

yeah it is pretty nuts, you could buy a ferrari for less than that and once youve got the book all you can do is stare at it.its weird how comic collectors can fall in love and pay thousands for a few bits of paper with some staples in it .i would definately get an amazing fantasy 15 but i would just buy a cheaper fair/good copy which is still a few thousand.the one on ebay has white pages,i like them better with off white pages and that nice old smell.

Yeah if it looks mint and it's an old comic there's something missing...

Hey when Supes died I bought a load of comics in the morning and sold about half that night for 10x profit.
When asked in high school where I was the next day, I stated I was mourning, and I had that stupid black band they give you on my upper left arm.

the grade of the comic, or the state that it is in.

The Comic Price Guide site (http://www.comicspriceguide.com/p-conditions.asp)

Near Mint [NM+:9.6, NM:9.4, NM-:9.2] - This is mint minus some minor defect: a slight stress line by the staples. And the staples themselves are generally centered clean with no rust. Maybe some of the color has chipped or flaked off the cover. And again, the cover is flat with no surface wear, inks are bright with high reflectivity and very little fading. And those tricky corners are cut square and sharp with ever so slight blunting permitted. You can tell that this comic has been stored in a Mylar bag and looks as new as the day it was printed. All stress marks should be almost invisible and bindery tears must be less than 1/16 inch. Only the most subtle binding and/or printing defects allowed. Cover is well centered and firmly secured to interior pages. Paper is supple and like new. Spine is tight and flat. You get the idea.

So basicaly, this is probably one of the best Amazing Fantasy 15's in the World.

I got offered £1500 for Amazing Fantasy 15 a few months ago, and I think it was graded 5.0. Why pay such a large amount of money for something, that, if you search well for it you can get for a large fraction of the price.

I also prefer it when the Comic is slightly yellowing etc. If you had one with such a high grade (especially with something like Amazing Fantasy 15, being such a key comic in the comic world) people might think it was a re-print.

The thing is though, Amazing Fantasy 15 was once sold for $210,000. :o

I got it way before the first movie came out when it was in development hell. I think it cost me about $500. Not sure cause it was quite awhile ago. It was one of the books I always wanted to own when I was a kid.

I've thought about it. It's not in the greatest shape. If I did I would want to grade some of my other ones.

I have a graded copy of Amazing 3 but it was sent in and graded for me already. 3.5 I think, but still cool to have.

that was smart to get the amazing fantasy comic before the movie came out. It might be a good idea to get other ones like the fantastic four before the movie comes out.

Yeah,I wasn't sure when the movie was coming or if it was going to be good. I just knew that if I didn't get it before it was being made then the price would be way too high. It ended up happening to every character so far that has a movie now. Even Blade. It's going on now. It's cool it's worth more but I feel bad for fans of the character that just want the appearance cause it's their favorite. More for comic fans really.

whoever asked what the reason for buying it as such a high price, when you could buy it beat up at half the price, is forgetting something. It's worth a lot of money and it's rare. The same reason people buy an old antique, whent they can buy something brand new for half the price. It's a collectors item, it's valuable, and it can be sold later for a larger amount of money, to make profit. It's an investment.

I'm not forgeting. If someone wants to pay an insane amount of money for a book with the intention of selling it later then are you getting it for what it is or what it's worth? I wanted the comic for who it is before I knew the movie would ever actually be made. I don't plan on selling it nor did I care what the shape of the book was. I'd be happy with a poor copy of Detective 38 just cause it's **** Grayson.

See,that what's sad. It's an investment now. It was like that before but not as bad.

I am doing a bit of both. I have bought a few beaten up copies of Spiderman jsut because i really wanted to see the original origins of the characters. But I have got a few fantastic Four comics in which I intend to sell. I found an old gingermegs comic not long ago and i am going to see what proce I can get for it but I dont think its in good shape.
The Iron man I bid on was sold for 700 bucks US I think

Hey, I just got myself a Spider-man #1 for 1000 bucks. It hasnt been CGC graded but the guy who sold it didnt know much about the grading system. Its easily about an 7 + and quite possibly high 8. The only visible problems it has are a little rust on the staples. Other than that it looks pretty good. Anyway it was interesting to read the first issue. Still waiting though to get a Amazinf fantasy #15
