you can put ant black belt type into costume for playing Spidey and doing " the moves " , I think Tobey is the perfect chioce for Peter Parker

That dude would make the most awesomest Spider Man.
I mean his bones wouldn't break EVERY take...
In other words, Why ask Why?
This guy deserves a chance. Do you really want a new Spider Man in every sequel aka big-shot Val Kilmer, head-bobbing George Cloony.......

A sequel is never as good as the first if you change the charactures. If they changed Brendan Fraser for the sequel of the Mummy that it would just as good.
Anyone seen Pleasantville,
Got quite a fright when I realised that the boy can really act and at times small parts of his character reminded me of juvnile Peter Parker.
The task Tobey has to pull off is playing 2 seperate identities, this has really only been succesfully done in superhero films with Michael Keaton's performance in Tim Burtons "Batman"
Hey! Hey! Now come on how can you say that are forgetting Christapher Reeves performance in the Superman Movies 1 and 2, 3and 4 sucked. But I think Tobey a perfect joice and as for those others you guys suggested they would ruin the movie before it even comes out.
Back before the court battles (original interest of James Cameron). I was hoping for John Cusack to get rhe part. I think he would be great as an older Peter/Spider-man out of college, etc if Tobey does not extend / finish contract (believe 2 sequels).
But Tobey is an excellent choice

What's with all the super models?
Spidey is an average joe. And Tobey is perfect. Quit knocking the dude; he's gonna be great.

Personally I think they should find a "new face" and forget about the already well known hollywood actors... It may not have the same appeal as a big name star, but they wouldn't have to deal with public preception either.

By "a new face" I meant a "regular person" kinda face. I'm getting sick of seeing "perfect" looking people in the media... C'mon, where are the ugly people!?!

Tobey's gonna work, man... He is a good actor and can afford with the responsability. The big problem in this film is that GG "Power Rangers" suite...
Freddie Prinze??? As good as Leonardo DiCaprio... C'mon everybody... Spiderman is a MAN!!!

GEEZ they are all tooo old, you guys are thinking old. DON'T THINK OLD, Spideys young, I was thinking one of the kids from N'Sync, they are skinny and young. Not the Blonde one that's dating Britney though, he can't be spiderman, he is too cool for comic book freaks he is dating the ultimate cheerleader.

Tobey will do just fine but that's not to say they could've done better. Tom Cruise could've play an older Spidey or dye his hair blonde for an instant Ben Reilly!
