Green Goblin Or Hobgoblin..Which Came First?

Okay all I was wondering which came first in the comics,Green Goblin or Hobgoblin? I have never really read the comics just watched all the different cartoons...but I am still a HUGE Spidey fan and have been waitng on this movie for 25 years.

THE GREEN GOBLIN. The Hobgoblin is an ******* who accidentaly found one of GG lair, stole some stuff( a glider, bombs and a mask), made a suit, and the hobgoblin came about.

I think that the Hobgoblin came first because the Hobgoblin came and tried to kill the King Pin before the Green Goblin was even created.

The Green Goblin came first. He was the first super-villan spidey ever fought.And if you waited 25 years to see a movie version of spider-man your a dumbass. There was a Spider-Man movie made in the '70s. It kinda sux but it was pretty good for the time period in which it was made.

Actually there were several Spider-Man movies made in the 70's, some some of the original live actions were hard to find so give the guy a break, he's a fan like you.

The Green Goblin came first. While chasing some bank robbers one of the four escaped down into the sewers and Spider-Man felt that 3 out of 4 wasn't that bad and didn't want to trudge around in sewer water so he went home. The bank robber found one of the many Green Goblin's lairs stashed thoughout the city and sold the information about where it was to a journalist that Peter worked with named Ned Leeds, Ned wasn't that right in the head and he ended up modifying the Green Goblin's gear and becoming the Hobgoblin. Later he was shot to death by many guards and the Hobgoblin you see running around now is a mercenary named Jason Macendale, who hooked up with a demon to give him powers, who split from him and named himself Demogoblin. Hobgoblin then took Kraven the hunters new and improved serum made by his son Valedmar (not sure how to spell his name) and killed Demogoblin. Since then Hobgoblin has been granted Cybernetic weapons that make him look all dark and scary around Ben Reilly's time as Spider-Man. Those weapons were given to him by Gaunt, aka Gauntlet, who was being controlled by none other then Norman Osborne, the original Green Goblin. That was the return of Osborne a few years back. He still haunts poor Parker now to this day still. Understand?

Ok everyone!! i thought the hob goblin came first i am only going by the cartoon though becuase the hob goblin was harry's father and harry was the green goblin right???

ohhhhh i just remember something harry and norman were the green goblin just norman got lost in the hobgoblins interdimentional portal do-hicky and harry took that stange gas and became the green goblin and from then on had a double personality the other being the green goblin but the hob goblin was first in the cartoon!!!!!! don't try to change my mind!!! i know i have it on tape!!!!!!!!!!

Well in the comics... it was the Green Goblin. In the cartoon it was the Hobgoblin... The only thing I wonder is.. how did the hobgoblin create or steal the technology before it was created by the Green Goblin? That stills puzzles me

I know that the Green Goblin came first, but just to clarify some confusion about the cartoon, I'll try to explain it.

Kingpin payed Norman Osborn to create the Hobgoblin, as in make the meapons and stuff. Then later in the cartoon series. Norman had the accident with the gas, and while trying to escape from it he got trapped in the secret room that had the Hobgobling gear in it. I'm not sure if it was just because the story was told through Norman's flashback or what, but the Hobgoblin mask turned green because of the green gas and also turned Norman insane.

I hope that helps any confusion. That was just the cartoon's story. Green Goblin is way better than Hobgoblin.

Spidon your wrong about the kingpin paying osborn to create hobgoblin.Osborn created hobgoblin by himself to assasinate wilson fisk/kingpin , thats how the animated series went.

The same thing that's going on now is going to happen after the movie comes out because of people swiching up the plot of a story and changing things around.Don't get me wrong I don't have a problem about Raimi making this movie so far to me he has done a good job and i'm sure he will be the last one standing after works.All i'm saying is the none fans or soon to be new fans are going to get really confused.As soon as B_Bob metion the Hob Goblin coming before the Green Goblin I already knew he was basing those facts from the 90's cartoon because I have them all and don't like them at that.

ok ... too many spiderman stories ... cartoons .. comics ... movies ...

ultimate spiderman ... this is the re-creation of the original peter parker - spiderman story in 21st century era .. like everything is hi-tech compared to the amazing spiderman comics ... even how peter got bitten by the arachnid spider is diff ... then norman osborn tried it to himself (what made peter got the spider power) ... norman became the green goblin ... even became the first villain in this plot.

Thanks for all the info on this subject...did not mean to cause any problems on the message board. I never read the comics only watched the Cartoons and the movies from the 70s. I was just not sure who came first in the comics. I hope me not reading the comics does not make me any less of a fan. Spidey has been and always will be my favorite SUPERHERO!!!

Hey blkspider GG gave the weapons to him well actually norman did. In the cartoon Norman wanted king pin dead because he had a new invention or something. So he hired me HobbyG giving me his old weapons and eaven some upgraded ones.

the green goblin came first, after the green goblin deid another guy came across the goblins lair, he corrected the faults the gg failed to correct, he also found the goblins glider, for some reason, and POOOF the hob goblin was born!
