I went out and bought the Essential Amazing Spider-Man awhile back. I was reading it and...well...I had to put it down! The old stuff doesn't do it for me. The people seem to explain every little thing to you during the comic and it get's tiring.

Don't get me wrong..Spider-Man = One kickass superhero. I just don't like the original stuff, is anyone with me on this?

Oh god...the originals- the first ones are just beautiful classic stuff! I could never bash them - but that was of course the beginning so there were still some style issues and such to iron out and it had that campy 60s feel still. Good throwback issues are a lot of the ones from the early eighties/late seventies. Beware the clone saga tho and some of the other crazy story arcs.

The original stuff doesn't bother me that much some of it seems kinda corny but it's ok

I love Todd McFarlane's Spider-man comics. The ones he drew, they were so detailed and great. I love 'em.
