In the comics, he stays enemies with Peter Parker for a LONG time, but finally comes to terms with Peter being a good person.
During the same timeframe, he is a HUGE supporter of Spider-Man. He will go out of his way to tell people to shut up who are saying bad things about Spider-Man, start a rally on his behalf, etc. It didn't matter if at the time, Spider-Man was being hunted by the police or something like that, Flash Thompson always believed that Spider-Man was a hero.
This kind of duality used to be a strong point in the Spider-Man comics. Like Peter Parker being the employee of one of Spider-Man's staunchest opponents, JJJ. Another example would be the Osbourne family being Peter's friend but secretly they were archenemies.

yup, i agree. actually, i wanna see brock reporting on the sandman story, and then spider-man defeats sandman and somehow brock reported something wrong about the sandman that spider-man proved wrong, and brock loses his job. Pretty much the sin-eater storyline only with sandman.
