I read in my local newspaper this morning that due to the success of the "Spider-Man" franchise, Marvel is planning on bringing our web-slinging hero to the stage. How the hell are they gonna make that work? I sure as hell hope that it's NOT a musical. Does anyone else find this a little disturbing? This decision, to me, sounds like the worst thing that could happen to Marvel's most beloved superhero. I'd like to hear all of your thoughts on this, true-believers.

I did see Spider-man Live. It was for the kids really but it was cute even though it was more based on the movie. Cool acrobatics and the Goblin looked like DC's The Demon.

If this happened the movie franchise would start to dwindle fast, as it would be TOO MUCH SPIDEY for people to bare. I hope this idea NEVER gets off the ground, Broadway and Spider-Man DON'T MIX. You hear me MARVEL/SONY it's a horrible idea, like the Spider-Man logo on the baseball field's bases. It's too much. And if they are stupid enough to do it, I hope fails miserably and fast.:\

i dont see it working...the only way that it could work is if NOONE TALKED DURING THE ENTIRE THING ! i could see like an hour or so of SPider-Man aerobics and stuff....but add the talking and singing and...dancing ::shivers in disgust:: it doesn't mix...

and i think the reason Lion King worked soo well is because the movie DID have singing and stuff...Tobey doesn't sing in either SM1 or 2

It would start first with these acrobatic guys doing stuff on the stage while singing the 60's theme song than you would see spiderman swinging through the stage (1 rope he is holding in his hands the other is holding his pants giveing him a wedgie) than green goblin would come on stage with a bike made to look like his glider and he would have his littile bell to( now in stores near you it's green it's mean and it glows in the dark green goblin suit *hemlet sold seperatly*) back to the stage....when spiderman fights anyone on stage you would see these sighns popping from the top saying "BAMMM" "THUMP" "UHHHH" just like in the old batman series.....and than for MJ there would be this Fat girl playing her sense all the hot chicks are somewhere else in a real job....she would be saying (in the same voice as that catterpiller from A bugs life) Save me spiderman i'm a littile red head....than he try's to pick her up they both fall of the stage and die and the play dies with them YAAAAY SPIDERMAN fans unite the play is dead

I can see it all now. With Great Power Comes Great Responsibilty sung in Opera. Now how would the bullets come out of the Goblins flyer? Although it would be cool to be in an audience when the Green Goblin blows up that factory thing. I wonder if people would have to sign some of form.
I hereby state that if I am killed by the explosions in "Spider Man the Musical" I will not press charges against Marvel Comics because I now know all of the risks.

AND Gobby will be 'chunky' and would take a pause and say, "wait Spidey........just let me get a breath...........my flight craft broke and chasing you is a REAl work out."
AND SPIDEY could be a 'girl' cause Broadway never is that acurate. LOL I Know I know........................it's lame right?;)

I recently read an article that mentions Spiderman on Broadway. That Marvel is considering a broadway musical? Does anyone know if this is truth. If so I WANT TO DO THE STUNTS. :)

I heard this on the news and its TRUE! When I heard that I thought NOOOOOOO!!!! I can see it now.....Peter Parker signing about how hard his life is, Mary Jane signing about how much she loves Peter and how ****y it will look when spider-man is crawling on the walls and trying to swing from building to building! Oh God No! It will kill Spider-man!!!

I heard this was true on the news as well, and honestly, I don't know what they are thinking- I mean, I have absolutley nothing against Spider-man (Why would I go to the Spider-man website everyday if I did?) and to me, Spider-man is basically life, but does anyone really WANT to hear Spider-man sing while he swings from building to building saving innocent people from villians? Spider-man was NOT born to sing..Characters from Beauty and the Beast? Yes, they can and should sing. This is seriously not right.:(

Spiderman Musical
The Philidelphia Inquirer

We had planned to make much mockery of this, but the bold-faced names are actually so talented that we will relent. Marvel Comics plans to issue a Broadway musical version of "Spider-Man."

According to Variety, the company wants Bono and the coolest guitarist on earth, the Edge, to write the music. They also want Neil Jordan of 'Crying Game' fame to write the book. (Let's hope Spidey does not have any 'Crying Game'-style surprises.)

To top it off, they want Julie Taymor to direct. She's the genius behind the "Lion King" musical, the powerful biopic "Frida" and the sublime 1999 Shakespeare adaptation of "Titus," starring Anthony Hopkins.

Thoughts?

big news is that plans might go underway to make a Broadway baby out of Spiderman, man! a musical! that means singing and dancing lol!!! oh goodness, that's too much..but i'm lovin' it! geez, if it ever happens my world will be complete. they can call it
Spidey! the musical.
some other facts are:
>Julie Taymor, who directed the Tony-winning stage version of Disney's The Lion King , is said to be the dream director.
>Robert Simonson, editor of the Broadway news site Playbill.com says he's skeptical of Spider-Man actually pulling off a Broadway debut. He says it's common for hit movie properties to be touted as hit musical properties.
>Spiderman wears a mask over his ENTIRE head, so that proves to be a challenge if he's supposed to sing!
>U2 stars Bono and The Edge are in negotiations to pen tunes for it.

really? well it probably wasn't that big of a production. but i think what they're talking about now is the real deal since it's..Broadway and Spiderman's gotten so extremely popular ever since the movies so they just had to come up with something more.
