Oh **** I missed the emo/stereotype talk. Well screw it I'm responding now :p In my town it doesnt take a lot to be called an emo. It was always my understanding that emo people had a connection with the emo music (usually whiney nu metal/rock with pathetic screams instead of manly ones). Quite often would have a hairstyle that covers one eye to show some sort of shyness but also draws attention to them. Tight clothes etc.
Now I dont know how many of you have checked my myspace profile from Shenrons spidey one but I used to have long hair. So before the word Emo became common usage I would be shouted at by people for being a "mosher", a "goth", a "satan worshipper" (which would make me laugh the hardest). I never was a big fan for the emo music but I am quite into rock (more mellow stuff as of late though) but people started calling me emo. It didn't annoy me any more than "goffic" but they were all incredibly inaccurate. Emo's just become another stupid insult that probably wont burn out for a while. I hold nothing against people who choose to adopt the emo lifestyle because they aren't all whinners (so technically that means their not emo) so the only logical conclusion I can come to is let everyone listen to what they want, dress how they please and dont bother putting them into boxes.
Anyway I have short hair now so I dont get shouted at anymore but I did learn about the whole stereotyping thing. Its just trying to seperate people so everyones got someone to hate.

This got me to thinking...what seperates good emos from annoying emos and i think it's simple

the annoying emos are the ones who change their entire personalities to be emo and be scene. People who want to act and dress a certain way because it's cool....they're annoying

but i think that people who are and always have been shy quiet and perhaps a little socially isolated or removed and maybe mistaken for depressed because they're thoughtful and dark and not always chipper and putting on a facade find that the emo way fits for them, and they don't change for it, it just works....i think that's totally fine. In fact, minus the emo ness in terms of look and what not, that's me. Believe it or not haha, i am actually quite shy, quiet (minus the random bouts of weirdness) and removed. Often times, people who are allllllways talking alllllways wanting to know what's what and who's who and allllllllllllllllllways talking about something think that it's me being angry or bored. But people like that don't understand that being quiet and shy is just as okay as being a friggen hummingbird haha...so basically what im rambling on and saying is that i don't think emo is a bad thing. Scene is a bad thing and happens to engulf about 90% of "emo" people (who aren't actually)...but the real ones who are always that way, and who don't have to advertise it are actually in my opinion, one of the best personalities...because to me, one of the best things ever is to be able to sit in a not awkward silence with another person and have it be okay....
