first off thanks sooo much guides for giving us another chance with this club!

second new rule in this thread you HAVE to talk about spider-man dont let it get chatty, we have c2's site for that:D

ok other then that im going to put in our first post from our old thread:D

The Obsessive Spider-man Fan Group!!!!

okay first off if your not weird dont read this thread

Me, the next spider-girl and spideyluver21 have come up with a club and this is its thread here are the requirements to be in this group made by the next spider-girl and spideyluver21
-Introduced by either the cartoons or the movies, owns several reprints and maybe even an original or two. Browses the web for Spidey info and gets up in the morning to watch reruns of the cartoon. Owns miscellaneous memorbilia.
-You must have no money, because the rest of us are broke.
-You must like Kudos bars, cookies, and brownie blizzards.
-You must prefer Oreo's or Fig Nutons over Ritz crackers.
-You must be weird.
-You must be an obsessive Spidey fan and be dedicated to the cartoon.

ok those are the rules (they came up in the Do You Get Board Of Spiderman thread so if you read that thread you'll understand them)

to become a member of the club you must prove your weirdness

once a member you put this in your sig http://ourworld.cs.com/ROTChobbit/fangroupmember.gif with the IMGs before and after it(made by the next spider-girl)

and heres the club webpage made by Spider_man01 http://expage.com/osg01

and the club jingle made by the next spider-girl(s-g):

Spidey-fans, spidey-fans
Totally obsessed spidey-fans
Cookies and kudos, they like to eat
Plus brownie blizzards, this food can't be beat
Look out!
Here come obsessive fans!

Are they weird?
Listen bud,
Strangeness is in their blood!
Can they ramble like a fool?
Rambling is their deadly tool
Hey, there
There post the Spidey-fans

Before half past eight
They begin to awake
For a cartoon so great:
"Spider-man" takes the cake!

Spidey-fans, spidey-fans
Friendly Internet spidey-fans
Wealth and fame
They do lack
They're broke, it's a fact

To them, life is a great big fandom
Whenever there's something random
You'll find the spidey-fans!

Woowoot! Spider-Man is so cool! I am waiting ever impatiently to start receiving comics because of my subscription. :D

This is post 1,001 for me. And it's worthy of mentioning because it's a palindrome (same backwards as forwards), which are awesome. ;)

Whoa, long post!(sg43's)

First, thank you sooo much guides!

Now, let's talk about SPIDERMAN, shall we?

OK, I'll get it started:

What Spider power do you think Spider-man could do without?

You guys can change the question if you want!

I think his web-shooter. He could make artifical ones like in the comics.

I saw Spiderman at the mall yesterday, a the little fans were sooo cute!....The costume was great, not the movie type costume, but the good ol classic type, i really enjoyed it!:D

Sounds like fun!

Does anyone know when Spiderman loses the web things on his arms that resemble wings?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at the first fifteen or so comic books(Amazing).

Just wondering!

The webbing under his arms. That's a good question. He actually had those things for a long time. I don't know why he got rid of them. Maybe he got tired of having to put deordorant on them too.

(No offense, but if I stink bad after a good 8 hours of work, imagine how Spidey smells after an entire night of crime fighting! Yuck!)

They disappeared because it was a lot of work for whoever it was inking the comic books. It's something that has been revived every now and then as new artists work on the Spider-Man comics.

Sorry, we lost power here for less than a minute and my Internet was all messed up.Originally posted by spideyluver21
What Spider power do you think Spider-man could do without?Definitely the organic web-shooters. He could just build them, like he did in the comics. But if this were a question based around the comic Spidey, I'm not sure. Because all his powers seem to be pretty important. His Spider-sense doesn't even work with some villains though and he's managed to get by... So maybe the spider-sense?? I still don't know though, because I really like the Spidey-sense. I like all his powers actually...

Thanks again to the guides ;)

Back to topic...

I think the webshooters are what he could really do without. My reason why was already said (that he could build his own), so I don't think I need to say it again.

Wait- I kind of already did...

Okay, I don't know.

Yeah, movie-wise, the organic web-shooters.

Comic-wise, I'm not sure. He could do w/o Spider sense, he could just use a tracking device. He uses those quite a lot in the beginning issues of Amazing.

Nope, you got to start the next one.

lordof
08-30-2004, 10:31 PM
The thing with the web-slinging is, you CAN'T have just that. You need all the other powers for it to be effective. Without super-strength, you'd dislocate an arm, and you'd NEVER get a good swing (anybody ever try to swing all the way around on a park swing?) Without spider-reflexes, you'd never get the webbing off on time, or in the right place, and you'd spend most of your time slamming into walls. And web-slinging is FAST (I'd guess around 100 mph, if he really puts his mind to it). Without his spider-sense, he'd never see all the things flying at and around him (birds, flagpoles...bullets). And wall-crawling...hey, who DOESN'T want to hang from the SIDE of the flagpole on the top of the Empire State Building?

no i'll ask one!

from the movies, what are ur favorite J. Jonah Jameson lines?
[yea i know, it's not a Spidey question; it's a J.J.J. question!]

mine are:
"he doesn't wanna be famous?! then i'll make him infamous!!"
"****. ****. mega****."
"you're fired!"
"now get ur pretty little portfolio outta my sight before i go into a diabetic coma!"
"Miss Brant! Get me a violin!"

hmm...i have feeling that all of these are everyone else's favorites too but oh well! just tell them to me again :D . and of course if u have other ones..

08-31-2004, 05:51 AM
That's a good point, lordof...I didn't think of that...

Oooo favorite quotes by JJJ! I got one!

Peter Parker: Spider-man wasn't trying to attack the city, he was trying to save it...that's slander.

J. Jonah Jameson: It is not. I resent that. Slander is spoken...In print it's liable.

the next spider-girl
08-31-2004, 07:57 AM
You guys mentioned most of the good ones. How about this one:

J. Jonah Jameson : Call Debra.
Mrs. Jameson : The caterer?
J. Jonah Jameson : Tell her not to open the caviar.

Peter: You don't trust anyone Mr. Jameson, that's your problem
JJJ: I trust my barber.

sguy
08-31-2004, 08:38 AM
LOL

J. Jonah Jameson: If we can get a picture of Julia Roberts in a thong, we can get a picture of this weirdo.

J. Jonah Jameson: No job, freelance! Best thing in the world for a kid your age. MEAT! I'll send you a nice box of Christmas meat, but I never said you have a job.

i believe the spidey tracers are based on the spider sense. without the spider sense he wouldn't be able to use the trackers.

In the beginning, he used a tracking device, but then later discovered the frequency that his spider-sense is tuned to, and moved it to that.

When the Hobgoblin discovered the formula for making Spider-man's spider-sense disappear, Hobby thought it amusing that Spidey still tried to put a spider-tracer on him, so he took it back to his hideout to play with it.

THEN, Peter went into his closet, found the original tracking device, fixed it, and managed to track the Hobgoblin down anyway (AMZ #249-250).

Hoffman: Mr. Jameson, we have a page 6 problem..
J.J.J.: We have a page one problem Shut up.

i believe the spidey tracers are based on the spider sense. without the spider sense he wouldn't be able to use the trackers.

THEN, Peter went into his closet, found the original tracking device, fixed it, and managed to track the Hobgoblin down anyway (AMZ #249-250).

what is your favorite piece of spidey memorabilia that you own? ...and which one do you crave?
i tried to start this topic and didn't even posted mine :\

so here it goes:
i like my spidey toothbrush [nice way to start the day], i have a couple of t-shirts, a mug, i love my water-squirting webshooters (one i got from a cereal box and the other from burger king), an impractical but cool keychain and a couple of caps. i also had a poster size color copy of a comic book cover which i had framed in my room a while back. oh, and many, many years ago i also had a spidey play-doh set--but that's gone now. :(

for the crave part, i would really like a realistic spidey costume for halloween, i was thinking maybe even only the spidey shirt to wear under Peter Parker-ish clothes--glasses and all... to wear as a Peter Parker costume with the dress shirt half-open showing the spidey logo... you know to give the idea of Peter changing into Spidey...

--AAANYWAY--
regarding the comic book quote. man...

*crickets chirping*

guess i'll get back to you on that one.

Okay, guys, here's a topic:

When did you first get hooked on Spider-man?

Me, back in '84, I was living in the Philippines (my Dad was in the Navy) and on a military base on the other side of the planet, comics were hard to come by. Can you imagine getting a comic two months AFTER the date on it? Anyway, the only consistent titles out there were Spider-man and the JLA. That's where I started, and collected religiously for the next 6 years. Then I graduated from high school, and suddenly found better (I should say OTHER) things to spend my money on: girlfriend, beer, etc.

Never really got back into it till I heard they were finally, FINALLY making a Spider-man movie. Got hooked all over again.

You?

That is because school drains time like a infinite sponge! Also, I had to read a ton of pages. But I am back, and I going to comply 100% with the rules of the guides, I will talk about Spider-man here, and about other things in the chat or boards on my site. I am glad that the club is still going.

What time does everyone normally get on the chat?

Sguy, I have a comic review page on my website, and I was wondering if it is okay if I put those reviews from the comic chat 2 thread on my site.

JJJ: Spider-man, I knew you two were in this together.

Favorite comic quote: " With great power, comes great responsibility." It is so true.

Villain - Doc Ock, or Venom

Friend/Ally - MJ, she has helped him more than any other super hero could ever dream of.

I am glad to have the new members, lordof and thwipp here. THWIPP, would you happen to be the legendary person of the same name on the SHH boards?

My perfect Spider-man comic book ending. Some points it must have.
1. MJ and Peter will live happily ever after.
2. Maybe a new character, say spider-son or daughter, is introduced to carry on the legacy.
3. New York City, and J.J.J. must agree that Spider-man is actually a good person.
4. Some of Spider-man's old foes turn good and become friends with him.

This is sort of like a retirement party for PETE/Spidey, but he is only like 30.

5. Doc Ock and Peter will stay friends until/after they are old.
6. Have all of the major artists, writers, editors, Stan Lee, appear in the comic. Spidey could thank them for all they have done.
7. Then, a dramatic/peaceful/lovely ending that, as soon as you are done reading it, makes you sit there and think of how happy and peaceful everything is now. Then for the rest of the day you walk around in a blissful/peaceful mood, thinking of the great carreer Spider-man has had.

That, my friends, is what I would write for the last Spider-man comic book.

after the first movie [:\]
i thought it was such a great movie and i was obsessed with the fact that i live in Forest Hills with Peter Parker and cast and crew from the movie came here to shoot. it was a wonderful obsession but it died down a little near the end of my freshman year in highschool [i still wonder why]. summer 2003 passed, then after sophomore year came summer 2004 and BAM!! SM2 in theatres and the obsession was back bigger and stronger than ever, and this time it was here to stay and NEVER die down. now i'm very into the comics [as i should've been a long time ago!], i draw Spider-man in my sketchbook everyday, i blow money on Spider-man merchandise, and i've read the novelizations of both movies each several times [SM2 novelization: 8 times]. i finally consider myself officially an everlasting Spider-man fan.

I will look back at the thread i have missed for the past couple days, but for now (since it's late) I will tell a most excellent story...
I was at a seattle music festival, and Nickleback was there, so my sister and i went..and it was great, the way that my obsessive spiderman fan-ness comes in here is that Nickleback had just finished a song, and i hear the lines "i chose a life of responsibilty.." and i started screaming my lungs out, reciting the lines that were to come next and also a 'SPIDERMAN ROCKS SPIDERMANNNNNNNNN" and they started singing "hero" and i sang along as loud as i could, i was sooo happy, because of the reference to spiderman *sigh*...
it was great, especially because of the never ending stares i got hahahaha.

I'm back. I've been sick all weekend, but I finally got out of bed so I could post on here.

So, I read this thread, and I thought, "Man, I am gonna have so much to read!" I was wrong. I only had to read five or ten posts!!!!!!!

I know, this has been discussed, but our poor little thread!!!:(

-PPF, very cool about Nickelback. I would have been doing the same thing. In fact, once I went to the mall and I went into Finish Line(shoestore) and they were playing the SM2 soundtrack! I started freaking out and singing all the songs in the middle of the store. People thought I was crazy. Oh well.

-s-g, sorry to hear about your house. Is it fixed now? And I know what you mean about school. I'm swamped all the time with it.

-sg43, sorry I didn't go in the chat. We were camping(ugh) and I had to leave to go to the camper.

But then I got a sore throat and a fever and hour later so my mom brought me back home. But I was so dizzy I could barely stand. So I figured I would come on when I was feeling better!

I'm sorry to hear you were sick, but I'm glad to see you back all the same! Are you better yet? If not, I hope you get much better soon!

Once I had the exact same symptoms you had, but it was in school, and I figured I'd try to get through at least the first period. That was a mistake, because after about ten minutes of feeling sick I passed out in the middle of art class.... That was embarassing. >.< It's probably not the same thing that you have anyways, but I'm glad that this didn't happen to you in school!

Thanks, my house is doing fine now, pretty much.

We went to Home Depot last night to look at floors (the plumbers had to strip away part of our bathroom and part of a carpet) and there was a Spider-Man coloring book for kids to work on while they wait. EVERYPAGE was colored, so I was upset I didn't get a chance to color Spidey. Instead, I sat with my little brother, and we critiqued the work that people had done in it so far. Only one drawing, one of Spider-Man, had the proper coloring. *Sigh* Those non-fans...

I think that next weekend I might actually get to go see Spider-Man 2 in IMAX!!!

Maybe to avoid being more of a loser than I already I am, I could get a job at Home Depot. I could keep an eye on the coloring book and color in it on my lunch breaks!

i'm gonna go with retirement. now, should he retire young or old? he'd be older [but i'm not sure if REALLY old], in his late 40's maybe mid 50's. i feel it should end with the line "with great power comes great responsibility". i'm picturing a panel with him and MJ, arms behind each other's backs, walking away from Uncle Ben and Aunt May's tombstones. ok, now i have an idea for an ending... now i have to think of the rest of the story!!

i'll think some more... or try to brainstorm in here.

When did you first get hooked on Spider-man?

Comics were hard to come by in Colombia where I grew up. My dad brought me toys from the states and I have fond memories from a Spidey Play-Doh set and two 12" action figures (one Spidey the other The Hulk) from the early 80's. I got hooked years later in college when I found a comic book shop with all the good titles! I started collecting Spidey, Batman, X-Men and Thor. Since supplies were limited each comic was overpriced and little by little I began spending less on comics and more on partying. When I moved to the states it was so much easier! I began buying paperbacks from Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com... and when the announcement of the first movie came out I subscribed to Amazing.

The only one I had (it's now in my parent's house) was a gift from a gf and it was a color copy of the back cover of a comic book. It was very cool with rain and lightning on the background--BUT it was Ben Reilly, not Pete! (it was the Ben Reilly spidey costume).

I just got the soundtrack today! Very cool. (Took me long enough, I'm so broke!) :(

I am currently in the process of getting money to buy more posters, but anyways, I have the poster where it's half Spider-man half Peter Parker. And I got it for only $4.99.

I am such a bargain hunter. ;)

Let's see, what else did I miss...

About two months before the movie came out, the Guides sent three posters to most of the people who has their address in their member account. I got the three posters, plus the first poster, plus another destiny poster that is signed by Sam Raimi with a message, and on the side, a great Spider-man sweatshirt and long-sleeve shirt, all for free from the Guides and the people at sony. I got the signed one for answering a question on Grant Curtis's web log about Sam Raimi's car that is in most of his movies. Spider-man 2 has had the best movie posters out of any other movie ever made, every single one is so cool, and when you frame one of them and put it on the wall, it looks even cooler.

I hope that answered your question.

My comic shop doesn't have any posters of old, but I am glad that they at least have a lot of the old comics. Maybe he has some in the back. I am lucky to have a comic shop in my city, because it is very small, and normally, in small cities, they don't have comic shops. I am extremely glad.

Yeah,I love the place I go to. They just got the Alex Ross poster of Spidey vs. Goblin. Very cool. The older posters I got years ago and hung on to them. I also have cool XMen comic posters too.

I don't have ANY friends that are fans. Most of my friends like the Spider-Man movies, but that's just about their limit. I have one friend who watches the cartoon with me sometimes and that's about it. And also, I think my family likes the cartoon becuase they've watched it with me a couple times although they claim to not like it.

The one at Jordan's is the same distance away as the one in the Boston Aquarium. It's a matter of looking up the prices and seeing which one is cheaper I guess.

sp21 - I have only seen it twice too. :(

c2 - That is totally awesome about the Guides sending posters. I wish I had been on the boards at the time.

Um, yeah, that's all that really happened on this thread today.

New topic? Hmmm...here's the first thing that came to my mind-

If you could make up a famous quote for SM3, what would it be?

I'll explain-ex:With great power comes great responisiblity...

So, it can be from the comics OR one you make up yourselves!

This is cool.

A Spider-man 3 quote to make up? Maybe "Life has destined me for perilous and unforgiving circumstances, but in the end, the way is always clear. I will always be Spider-man!" I could make a better one, I just have to think of it.

Topics Entertainment of Renton, Washington is preparing to release The Amazing Spider-Man Fortieth Anniversary Collection in October. The 10 CD-Rom set contains 501 full color comic books with all the covers, stories, letters pages, posters and Stan Lee's Soapboxes included. The set includes Spidey's first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15, plus issues 1-500 of the Amazing Spider-Man. The images on the CD-Roms were scanned from copies in the private collection of Marvel editor Ralph Macchio.

The CD-Rom set, which has a retail price of $49.99, will be out at least a month before the release of the Spider-Man 2 DVD on November 30. Sony is mounting a massive ad campaign for DVD, and Topics is hoping that retailers will be able to take advantage of Spidey's ubiquity during November to promote sales of the Fortieth Anniversary Collection CD-Rom Set.

Here is a another quote for Spider-man 3, " Responsibility, my promise. Superpowers, my gift. Life as Spider-man.... my destiny."

I could do a lot of variations to this one, but I think this one may have been best.

Here is a funny one, " Hey Sandman, you should have a talk with the Human Torch, it would be good for your image."
