Any ideas for Green Goblin 2 costume? [Archive]

One of the things I hate about the Green Goblin costume in the first movie is that the mask didn't let Dafoe act... it all looked so unnatural when he was wearing the costume! So I began thinking about what would I've done differently.

Since it's better to think about the future than complaint about the past, now I'm beginning to think about: what could be done differently for the new Green Goblin costume in case Harry goes that path in the third spidey movie?

Place your vote on the poll and answer the following: Could there be room for changes now that the first costume has been established? How?

You got to change it,man. Too many people didn't like it. I'd say go with nano technology,make it highly advanced looking and throw in some dark purple colors. Maybe the circuity could resemble the scales of the comic suit.

That would be the best but Raimi and the designers didn't like it. Harry has the materials already but he really should start from scratch.

Yes yes yes please change the costume. One of the great things about Dafoe's acting was his facial expressions, and you couldn't see them with that mask. The costume seemed to-robotic or something. Not natural(like THWIPP! said).

So, yes, the costume needs to be changed.

that's what i wish they did from the beginning... but i don't see it happening now.

far as i remember, what GG wore in the comics was not an armor... just a costume. and in the movies, i don't think they can pull off going from an armor to green tights, pointy hat, pointy boots and a purse. [man, i kinda trashed GG costume involuntarily... ]
anyway, let's put it like this: it would be extremely challenging to make the old school costume work in the 3rd movie.

my internal brainstorming process is driving me nuts... first i thought of a hood/cape thing, sort of hobgoblin-y... but with this costume it would look like Dr. Doom... we don't want that, specially with FF coming soon (but not soon enough).

then i have this whole internal dilemma with SHOULD the mask let Franco act as the goblin... let's face it, he's no Dafoe--or at least I haven't seen him do any "evil" expressions yet. anger: yes. evil: no.

man, i've even thought about having Harry find the mask from jim carrey's "The Mask"... j/k ;)

it's killing me that i hate the first costume so much and can't think of a better alternative (other than the original comic book costume).

i'll go to my meditation room, light some incense, and get back to you later.

ya no offense to the goblins original costume but that would have NEVER worked in the movie but i didnt like his costume in the movie much either, kind of was like a power ranger;) but got to remember now that they have a way BIGGER budget then from the first movie, if Harry does become GG2 i think they would really upgrade the suit:D

Well I didn't think they would use the oldschool one for the movie, and I don't mind the new one that much. I don't think it looks like a Power Ranger, Power Rangers wear tights. Atleast it's not the costume from "GG's Last Stand"

i've compared before Green Goblin to a Power Ranger... but mainly in terms of the acting--not so much a similarity in the costumes.

since the mask covers the face, Dafoe used exaggerated body language and overdid the voice in lieu of facial expressions--too bad, cause he can really put out an evil face. Spider-Man has his face covered as well, but didn't look as weird.

Yeah, Dafoe has a lot of great facial expressions that you couldn't see because of the stupid mask.

i really hope that if hes in the 3rd movie that they improve it. they could make the costume wicked cool and make the glider have alot more blowing up stuff;)

Don't think Harry should just wear dad's outfit - he should break character a bit and change it up. How ..well, hmm. Not sure. I didn't hate the SM1 costume, but never really got the "gobli-ness" ..why goblins? bad experience on halloween? If this is covered in the comics, let me know so I can brush up on my villian origins history.

i think that the comic book goblin costume should be used for harry. i think it would show an evolution in the character and the purple hood gives the goblin that badass look, u kno what i mean.

The costume needs to have at least a passing similarity to the one that Dafoe wore in the first movie. I think it would almost be good if Peter felt that the goblin was haunting him. You know he doesn't know its Harry doing it. If its going to have that freaky feel of "Hey I saw this guy die" Then it needs to look a lot like the original.

True. At least initially would have to be very similar. But there are always ways to make a costume change after that. Broken mask, etc... or even just adding a hooded cape to the existing costume might improve the appearance while maintaining the "oh, it's you again" effect.

Anyway, I like this GG look. Wouldn't have been as hard to translate into film, as the original comic book look.

Sorry for all Harry fans, but I really don't think that he should appear in the next movie all that much. I would let some of his momentum die down a little, let the aticipation grow for him to come back later. Kind of like a guarantee of things to come. I would Throw Mysterio in 3 and get Connor Working with Peter.
4 Connor betrays Peter and uses his blood to become The Lizard.
5 Harry returns using Connor's serum as a catalyst, turning himself into Hob-Goblin sans no costume, but all through meta-morphosis like the lizard but with a mind for vengence. End of 5 the serum that Harry had been tampering with evolves into a black liquid that developes a sentient personality that wants to return to it's place of origin Peter Parker.
6 VENOM! Yeah baby, gimme some sugar! The black serum reaches Peter, and he feels rejuvenated like he is regaining something he lost. Then he is bombarded by all of these voices. The serum finds a new host, John Jameson, and because of the hatred John has for Peter and the feeling of abandonment the serum has for Peter, they both want to kill him.

THey could say that Norman made that suit but never got a chance to use so Harry uses it. It could even have the Shockers in the tip of the fingers. I also hope they show his eyes a bit more, and maybe make an opening for his mouth. I doubt they will show Harry with the mask alot, the story isnt about GG its about Harry.

I think they need to make an opening for the mouth and eyes ./ Make them visable so you could see more emotion.
If they dont its fine I doubt they will show Harry with the mask more than him without it.
The story is about Harry not Green Goblin.

Well in my personal opinion they should do it like the alex ross desing in the first spiderman video game. If you got the game (firts one from the movie) active the alex ross costume desing of spiderman then play the one of the goblin´s levels and you´ll see the costume its green like the movie armor but it´s not an armor exactly it´s a costume-armor (**** it) and a hood dark green it´s very cool.:cool:

The changes would be good. I think that Gobby was great in the first movie, but they need to make changes for the second one. Or they could try to totally flip Peter out with an exact copy of the costume. How would you feel if a villian you thought was dead came back to life?

Over all though I think it needs changes.

I'm not quite sure what I thought of the costume. I guess they could have made it a little better but I thought it looked fine. It wouldn't really have mattered if they changed the costume because the mask is not going to show facial expressions. (At least thats what I read in Behind the Mask of Spider-man).:D

I love the idea about adding deep shades of purple to the new costume....a cape and hood would be pretty awsome too!!!!!! I LOVE the idea of the goblin haunting peter!!! That would be awsome if he thinks Mr. Osborn is back from the dead or something.... I would also love to see a HUGE air battle between spidey and the GG..... i also hope they upgrade the glider

Maybe the old constume could be changed a bit, maybe a different shade of green and I think he should also where a cloak or something with a hood.

Im sure the costume couldn't of costed that much that they couldn't make changes to it.

Hmm...well, someone had to do it. I too a few minutes to draw a new Green Goblin. For some reason I gave him wings. I body is headless because it would look bad if I crammed it in there.

but i think the mask should still cover most (or all) of his face, except his eyes. spidey must not be sure in the beginning who it is and that type of mask kinda would show if it is Harry or not. still, some super heroes can manage to hide their identities with just a pair of glasses...

scorp I think that they should establish why that is in the 3rd movie so the costume wouldn't be just a randome thing to make him look cool.
