Superherohype.com has just stated that danny elfman, the composer for the first and second film will not be in the third movie. He's not going to be doing the music for the film, which releases may 4, 2007! Instead, he will be doing "Charlotte's Web!"
To see the link itself, go to superherohype.com
On the top it will say search. Click.
Put in Spiderman 3.
Look for 'Danny Elfman not scoring,' or anything familiar to that it on the list.

:o What?! Danny won't be composing? Aww, man...
Do you know who will be (I'm too lazy too search, LOL ;)) composing?

What a bummer about Elfman. It's really going to disrupt the continuity of the 3 movies, IMO. It's the emotional impact that the music has left with me, because of THE STORY, that I'll miss, namely. How sad to know that I am not going to feel the same awesome rush that overcomes me during the opening score...

Yeah, heard this in april (http://superherohype.com/news/spide...ews.php?id=2806) - I can't see that they will re-score the entire SM3 especially the main theme. I'm hoping they build on it. Has anyone walked behind Elfman like this before?

they defo wont change the intro.. it IS the spider-man movie theme... an i did LOVE elfmans work on sm1.. but did anyne not feel like he jus resued like 3 quarters of the sm1 score for sm2... he done nuthing new.. except doc ock theme.. although it will be sad to see him go.. he is my favorite composer btw.. i love his score in beetlejuice sooo much.... but i think sum1 can do a better job.. especially after wot i would jus call laziness in spider-man 2.... i would actually PREFER sum1 else.. but ONLY if they keep the main theme.. i meen.. they dont even need him for tht anymore,, mwah ha ha ha!! :P

I believe the composer can make a big difference in a film. I didnt like the music in Fantastic four. It was so chessy and ****. I hope they dont change the spider-man style that much.

I rekon the way the music is in the film, determines the feel of the movie. I like SM1 much better than SM2 because of the feel, and that is probably due to the fact of the music.

For some reason I can't remember his name right at this moment, but the guy who did a some of the scoring on Spider-Man 2 is taking over on Spider-Man 3. I want to say his name is Christopher Young or something of that nature. My favorite score that he has done was the Hellraiser scores. Excellent work, and a great composer. And remember folks, he did a some of the work on Spider-Man 2 so it's not like they are bringing someone completely new to the franchise.

Didnt elfman work on the music with someone else and that guy who he worked with is just going to take over??

In one of the articles where they talked about the new composer, they did mention that the entire score wasn't going to be written. This still doesn't mean that we don't have room to hear a lot of neat new stuff. Come on, we have 3 new villains to set a mood for. Technically, the Goblin isn't entirely new, but I doubt they'll give him the exact same theme since he has different motives for being evil that need to be portrayed through the sounds. The original Spider-man theme in the opening credits also underwent some alterations as well. The violins were a little bit more complex the second time around, and the music evoked stronger images of tangled webs than did the first. I'm guessing that Spider-man's theme will have some new things as well. I'm just waiting for it. Pretty exciting.

Allegedly, Elfman and Raimi had some sort of falling out. Elfman doesn't seem to like or get along with Raimi at the moment. I'm not sure what happened, but...there it is.
I think they re-used some of Elfman's work for the second movie and threw out the stuff. The rest was I suppose filled in by Christopher Young.

I don't want the new composer to change how the movie sounds too much!

Personally I felt the movie could use some strengthening in the score department in the first place.
Maybe this will give it some more substance.

it needs a new editor...
spider-man 2 looked like a sum kid had been givin "win dvd creator" for christmas and told to "go nuts"

The editing was fine. And it wasn't a kid either. It's one of Raimi's frequent collaborators.

Thank God, Danny Elfman has become repetitive and trite in his composing over the last decade. I'm glad he's gone, good riddance. And I agree, a new EDITOR is needed, as well.
Personally, I want a new director starting with SPIDER-MAN 4.

I have no clue of what he was like with other movies, and I dont care. He did good job with Spidey. Would you want that to change? I'm kinda, worried about this new guy. I have no clue of what he's like, but I hope that the style stays the same.

It should be interesting to hear some one elses take on the movie, since it will have a darker tone to it this this go around.
I admire Elfman greatly, but he is kind of become like the Starbucks of composers. :(

Edward scissor hands, Batman returns and Spiderman all have the same elfman sound to it. I think he needs to venture out fo his comfort zone every now and then

When I first saw the first movie in the movie theater and heard the intro music... I knew it was batman.
Apparently, they can still use all the works he used for Spiderman. Just the new score for the movie will be his replacement. So says the article in superherohype.com.
