I think they will make 3 more -- the usual, 2 trilogys.

But the next trilogy will have a new set of cast. Tobey and Kirsten will be out and will be replaced by 2 new (and rising) young stars. Raimi may or may not come back.

They should not kill MJ, sent her away, like in the comics. Kalifornia maybe? In the movies she hasn`t really done the model-stuff, so in this one, she might re-think her relationship with Peter, and then she goes to Kalifornia, to have a time-out. That way it would be still possible for Kirsten to return(when she realizes who big mistake she made when leaving Spidey behind).

As much as I'd like to see many spidey films, the less there are the less chance the franchise will start sucking. Mj may die, it's highly likely that MJ or Harry will get bumped off in 3 since neither seem to enthused about doing more than 3. I'll be suprised if they go through the trouble of introducing Gwen only to kill her off.

First of all... nothing is sacred in Hollywood. Any character can be killed off regardless of comic book continuity. In Batman they killed Joker, in Spiderman 2 they knocked off Doc Ock.
Unless they get a better script for MJ, I would applaud if they took her out, however they did it.
Also, I remember hearing they were filming #3 and #4 at the same time.
I would love to see an intro to the black costume in #3, getting rid of it at the end of 3, then Brock/Venom as the main villian in #4. It would take two movies to tell the story well.

Perhaps MJ will survive, but I won't cry if they change actresses. If they introduce a new MJ, maybe they will give her better lines. In the first couple of movies all she does is repeat Parker and sound stupid. It is heartbreaking to see this in a movie I love sooo much. Either the writers or the actress has to go, for the benefit of the film.

That's pretty funny what you said, about casting a redhead to play a blonde, and casting a blonde to play a redhead. ;)

However, Kristin is such a big star that she won't "regret" leaving the franchise after SP3. After all, it makes much more sense for her to leave as oppposed to being typecast for the rest of her career as Mary Jane. And money is not a concern for Dunst anymore anyway, since the paycheck she recieved for all three SP movies will be enough to last her and her family at least two lifetimes.

Lastly, it is reported that Sony will be making six Spider-Man movies. Unlike Star Wars, however, Raimi doesn't have that strong of an economic and artistic commitment to SP the same way Lucas does to SW because Raimi doesn't own the franchise. So don't expect any of the principal director or the actors to stick around after Three.

Maybe Sony will get lucky and replicate the same success that Spider-Man 1-3 achieved, but it's pretty unlikely that they'll get the same type of caliber casting that they did with Raimi/Maguire/Dunst.
