Yes, this is my first time on this Spider-Man message board. I have read almost every reply on here and this is my opinion. Spidey will be a great movie. It will be in the ranks of other great superhero films, like 1989s Batman, and the 90's X-Men!!! I have seen alot of Mr.Macguire's films, I even have one on DVD, Wonderboys. I think all of you little nit-pickers should shut your yaps and let this movie be made, and then go see it, in a theatre with people, and then think really, really hard about what you thought of because it is people like you who try and turn good things bad. Like all of those people who thought that Speilberg, Law, and Osment would ruin Kubrick's idea of the movie A.I. It's the number 1 movie right now and it's not showing signs that it's going to not be No. 1 for a good while now. So, see it first, then voice your opion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, I wouldn't recast. The ones chosen are the best there is. Just wait, you'll see. And I have to disagree completely with Freddie Jr. as PP, don't get me wrong, I like him, but he's just not Peter material. Nice try though.
Catch ya later!

Welcome aboard blue44! I agree with most everything you've said on your first post, but what the hell, they put these message boards up for the nitpickers to vent! Enjoy, and have some fun with it! Don't be a stranger!
(By the way, what's a blue44? Sounds like a brand of malt liquor! Hah, just kiddin'!)

I must admit that, though I'd agree with most of the people up here that re-casting the roles of Spider Man and Mary Jane would be an exercise to court the ultimate destruction of a filmgoers experience (ie they were to recast Spidey for Freddie Prinze). I have come to think that perhaps the most abundant source of talent available for such a role as the Green Goblin, could be well suited towards an actor that seems to relish those sorts of roles and challenges that would require that he take on a, perhaps, goofier role. You must admit that the Green Goblin has a warped outlook, and is not quite all there. So, beatring this in mind I have decided (with some trepidation) to cast my vote against the general consensis of the population that has remained steadfast in their support of the esablished characters, and decide that Jim Carrey could in fact put together a most pleasing role as the Green Goblin.
Thats my thought anyway,

Well, all I have to say is one thing. If the part of spider-man needs to ever be replaced they should give me a call. I've always looked forward for a chance to play a part like spider-man, and I honestly feel that I would be good for the part. Casting, contact me if you need to. slowdell4@hotmail.com

Carey WOULD do a great job with the goblin, no doubts there.
Dafoe IS going to great too!
The fact is that there is just TONS of talent out there and lots of actors could do well with this kind of movie.
For instance, wouldn't David Spader have been just great for the role of Peter? I say heck yes!
I don't know much about Toby, but I'm sure he will be fine, so I'm not going to sweat that either.
It IS fun to cast the roles ourselves though, isn't it? =)

god kaiken are you smoking somthing ?
they casted this movie great . peter parker was a total geek . and in the early days of spiderman he still had a geky body in the suit . he didnt get the buff body until mcfarlane changed him .. yes it was for the better but p.p
was still a geek . i think they did a great job of casting . you obviously didntstart reading the comic until you saw the trailer

McFarlane WHO??
Obviously, you're too young to truly comment on this topic . As the legendary Steve Ditko originally drew the character, he was a geek .. however, when John Romita (that's Sr, not the Jr model ... in every way) took over, Spidey and Peter both got more buff ... go back to the mid-60's. That was Spidey at his prime ... the original Goblin, the intro of MJ (as a gag, originally -- a play on what a geek Peter was), the intro of his first love, Gwen ... and her death (pretty daring stuff at the time)
By the way, if you've ever seen a reprint of Amazing Fantasy #15 (1st App), Jack Kirby did the actual design of the character and that cover ... it was then handed off to Ditko, who many think was the better choice simply because Jack "King" Kirby could NOT draw anyone who did NOT look heroic and larger than life.
Thanks for giving an old fan a chance to put in my two cents worth!

I haven't touched a comic in probably 10 years and I have a lot of catching up to do. I haven't gotten any info on the movie until now. Is J.J. Jameson in the movie and who is playing the part? There is your role for Adam West.

A recast would really ruin it. I still have whiplash from all the Batman movies.
