... originally, I heard the role was offered to Mike Myers (yes, 'Austin Powers' himself)... Strangely enough, I could definitely see it happening...

I think Myers is still a seriuos enough of an actor to pull off Doc Ock.
But hey, chunk out Kevin Spacey a bit (ok, alot) and you will have a convincing Dr. O

Mike Myers could probably do it.

The best choice I've seen here so far is that guy from Darkman.

Christopher Walken is TOO scary to be Doc Ock! LOL

I read capo's note and I think he is right, that dude from Darkman should be the best Doc Oc. His name by the way is LARRY DRAKE. If he isn't the right man for the job, I might give Arnold S. a chance. The point is: you need a big guy to play Doc Oc!

07-20-2001, 06:00 AM

I was thinking about this today and I think Anthony Hopkins(Hannibel The Cannible) would be a GREAT Doc Ock. Just my opinion.

The actor should be a fat guy! I think that Danny DeVito would play a fine Doc Ock! Just put him a wig and glasses and you have the good doctor!!

Strangely enough, I'd have to agree, Jim Carrey would be good, but you gotta remember he WAS in another superhero movie........and he may be too tall and gangly for the role.........my favorite is Robert Deniro, he's not to tall and not too short, he's got "Doc Ock" written all over him.

Even stranger than that...I actually can picture Elton John being a good Otto Octavius look alike...go figure.

I can see a very dark and serious Mike Meyer's play the role of Doctor Octopus. --Maybe even sneak in that malificent Dr.Evil pinky gestures with his mechanical tentical claw as his arms crossed and hoisted high above the air before delivering the final crushing blow of defeat to the Spider-Man.

beatnik
08-18-2001, 12:27 PM
Now that I think about it... Dr. Giggle's would make a pretty intimidating Doctor Octopus.

Larry Drake is the dude's name. And here's a list of his movies.

• Bean (1997)
• The Journey of August King (1995)
• Dr. Giggles (1992)
• Darkman (1990)
• For Keeps (1988)
• The Karate Kid (1984)
• Paranoia
• The Big Brawl
• This Stuff'll Kill Ya!
• Truckin' Man
• Dimensions
• Nobody Knows
• The Time of Her Time
• Desert Heat
• Darkman II: The Return of Durant
• Overnight Delivery

He also played on the TV series LA Law as the "developmentally-challenged" Benny.

beatnik
08-19-2001, 02:04 PM
So what if he's black, he's a really good actor...

Especially intense actor too

Check out Othello and Hoodlum

OK I SAID IT ONCE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN. ELTON JOHN IS PERFECT FOR THE PART OF DOC OC. ALL HE NEEDS IS DOC OC'S GLASSES AND HIS MECHANICAL OC ARMS AND HE WILL BE EXACTLY IDENTICAL. NO I'M SERIOUS, ITS LIKE THE ARTEST OF DOC OC DID A PORTRAT OF ELTON JOHN AND ADDED EVRYTHING ELSE. I KNOW HE IS NOT THE ACTER BUT I THINK HE SHOULD GET THE PART!!

I just got a crazy notion that i can see working very nicely. I don't know if you guys in the States got the TV series "Lock, Stock..." but if you did then you might know who i'm talking about. The character of Moon has a gypsy uncle named Derek. I could see the guy who played him fitting in very nicely.
Perfect sandman on the subject of Lock Stock. Vinnie Jones, who was also in Snatch, Gone in 60 seconds and Swordfish.
Other possible Doc ocks? Lets see, Rutger Hauer, Mike Myers could fit the part probably, Dan Aykroyd maybe (maybe not), Jeff Bridges. Thos are just ones that come to mind off the top of my head. You could have a very effectively scary and villainous Doc Oc if you used the guy who was Brick Top in snatch. But he's a bit old for it.

I just had another hit of inspiration.
Ralph Brown.
He's done a lot of movies across the board. Usually small roles. He was 85 in Alien 3, Ric Olie in Phantom Menace, Miami Vice in the Lock Stock TV series, and he's done heaps of other TV shows and bit parts in movies, but he could be worth looking at, maybe for a character other than octopus.

Al Pacino. It would be funny to see him blow up and freak out everytime a chick denies him some lovin. He would kick ***. (Of course, you all know that Doctor Octopus couldn't get laid even if his life depended on it, right?)

i was about to post Larry Drake as a possibility. I see somebody else has the same idea. kudos. If he lost some weight, put on some muscle, and worked on an accent.. he'd be the best bet for otto octavius. in case you have no idea who he is, there's a pic here: http://users.aol.com/preyfan/cast.html

this thread, was made in 2001 before the first movie came out
they weren't talking about replacing Alfred
they were just speculating who might play him in a future role (that future, now, being our past lol) we know that Alfred was in the role, and did a great job
so, who's the one on crack, around here :p LOL
