Ok...I'm a professed Kirsten Dunst fan! Let me kid that out of the way. I new way back in the day of Little Women and Interview with a Vampire that this little girl would grow up to be a wonderful actress. She made me believe that she was an adult trapped in a little girls body in IWAV. It's even a big joke with my students that I'm a fan of hers but in the last year they have really started seeing what I saw in her as an actress. Mary Jane was a model, an actress (later in the comics) and was down-right beautiful. All of the characteristics or Kirsten. She's even become so popular that she's been in magazines like Maxim and Cosmo to just name a few. I think it was the perfect choice!

I certainly agree with MMoris, Kirsten has grown up to not only be beautiful and strong but a role model for any girl. Being a teenage girl a lot of actresses my age don't quite hit me like she does. She makes it seem so flawless yet so difficult to be in her shoes. I think she was a perfect choice. While I do not read comics or know much about Spider-Man, what I do know is that she will play this role with all the heart and compassion she puts into every movie. 2002 couldn't come slower!

This is sounding a lot like X-Men. I remember a huge uproar about people saying this person didn't fit that role (especially our natives Hugh Jackman and to some extent Anna Paquin), and look at how that turned out! **** awesome. Now I too am a fan of Dunst, so yeah i love the choice, but yeah, i wouldn't kick up a stink till you've seen the film. The movie is about Spider-Mans' beginnings. They're both in highschool. Mary Jane hasn't even become what she is in the later comics. She's still a teenager in the film, they both are. She doesn't have to be the "supermodel" everyone is expecting her to be. To me, she's just as pretty and "glamourous" as any model I've seen, in fact, she's prettier than most of them I've seen.

Excuse me? Homely? What universe are you living in? I'm a diehard Kirsten fan, so you're not gonna shake me. You can argue she doesn't look like the comic book image of MJ (although, like almost everyone has pointed out, we're talking about 17 year old MJ, not adult MJ), but I just don't think "homely" is a word that fits the girl.

The way MJ looks in the comics, is a vision of the character, someone had in their head. We would have (more then likely) accepted any other MJ, if someone else had envisioned her, differently. Kirsten is Sam Raimi's vision of MJ. She is who we need to bring MJ, and MJ's and Peter's romance to life. If Sam Raimi and Stan Lee couldn't see that, then they wouldn't be very good visionaries. Better to have an actual actress play her, than some other actress who has her looks more, rather then MJ's personality. All the stars chossen in this film are gems, and in a recent interview someone from CountingDown.com. (who had the prevlidge of seeing the film early), their review of the movie and the actors, were all of high praise. Someome from Spidermanhype.com, also had a glowing review of the film, and cast. :) And in an interview with Stan Lee, he is happy with how the film came out, and also with the cast who brought Spider-Man to life. We are definitely in for a treat! :)

Kirsten Dunst is the most HORRIBLE actress I have ever seen! How did she even get into the business? It sounded like she was just reading off the script. She wasn't believable at all. I haven't talked to ANYONE who liked her performance in this OR any other movie. Also, when he was talking about "looking into her eyes" and how beautiful they are, they showed her face, and she had puffy, dark circles under her eyes! And that's considered beautiful? She also needs a tan on that ghostly white body of hers. Ick!
