if any of you guys were on spider-man hype lately then you might have caught the article on freddie prinze jr. he was complaining on how he should have been spider-man, and how much better he would've been, and that his movies are different and so on, i think that he should shut his mouth, how many things is he gonna try to invade that has to do with spider-man fans, and here comes the shocker, he says that tobey is not spider-man, he is. listen fred, you should know that you have know skills like tobey, you are to good looking. shut your mouth fred, and i suppose that if you would've got the part, sarah would have to be there too play mary jane, right? e-mail me if you agree wolfpa9223@aol.

Whatsup all, I am new here and this is my first message so hi. I have to agree with the last post, if Freddie Prinze, jr. was cast for the role of Peter Parker, how could the movie be taken artistically seriously? The guy is a teen idol for god's sake, not any kind of great actor or anything and besides, if you are familiar with Sam Raimi's work then I think it's obvious he wouldn't choose a guy like Freddie for the part.

Well, I haven't seen much of Freddie but I have seen Tobey act in several movies, and he does a great job.. and he will pull Peter Parker off :)

Both Toby and Freddy are the wrong choices to play Peter Parker. Freddy's acting skills are not up to par and Toby's physical make-up is totally off in order to play the role of Spider Man.

The director Sam Raimi should've picked Jason Behr (Roswell) to play the role. He would've made an excellent choice to play Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Just look at his physical make-up. Not to mention that he is still a unknown and this role would've done great for his career.

I agree that freddie prinze would have been wrong for the part. I also heard that Leonardo DiCaprio wanted the part too. Now that would have been awful.

I don't mind the guy they have now because I never heard of him and he seems nerdy enough to be the young Peter.

No kidding! I don't know why so many people are so hyped up over that stupid movie! It looks dumb, the cast and most DEFINATELY the whole computer generated Scobby thing, looks dumb. Even the Scooby-do fans, probably think it's going to be lame!! And until he actually nabs and pulls off a decent role, Freddy should just keep his mouth shut, and stop putting down everyone else, who can actually act! ;P

I still say Wes Bentley would have been perfect. I do like Tobey, though. He surprised me at how well he can play Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Tobey did an excellent job and made the perfect peter.. However, Freddie Prinze Jr. would have made an excellent spidey with 1 exception- The Nerdiness of Peter Parker.. no one can believe Freddie to be a nerd..

From what I know about Freddie Prinze Jr is that he is a HUGE comic book fan- been one for a long time..

Ralph...I agree that Behr is a good actor, but still...I don't think he's spidey. As far as Prinze Jr is concerned. The guy is an *****. No offense to those who like him, but come on...he thinks he's a professional, yet he whines like a baby

He is so far from being Spiderman it is not even humorous. Tobey is an amazing actor. I was so glad when I found out he was doing it, because the worst thing would be if the Spider were played by some cheesy teen-movie actor with a pretty actress-girlfriend.

Maybe he has had more box-office success, but I am not sure. Tobey Maguire has had more serious roles, and (from my viewpoint, and critics as well) has been waaayyy more choosy with the roles he has taken. I think that speaks for itself. Cider-House Rules? C'mon, the kid can act!

He's going to be a great success because of the way he manages his career. He takes roles that don't seem to stand out (except for Spidey - which is now his breakthrough). He runs along the same lines as Jack Nicholson, Gary Sinise, and others who don't NEED to take the LEAD role. I think he did a fine job, and will continue to do so in the future. Even after the Spider-Man franchise runs out...

Go on, Tobey...you were great. You brought to life Peter Parker in a way no one else could. You were the perfect choice. The only choice...
